LOL!!!! |
David, I am sure you remember when you thought it was cool to stay up all night. BTDT. I don't ever want to do it again.
I used to stay up all night a lot when I was active in the astronomy club. We would stay up to see "just one more Messier object" and pretty soon the horizon is getting lighter. We would go to breakfast as a group before going home. One of my buddies said it was the perfect hobby for someone that wanted to cheat on a wife. You load up some equipment in the car and then come hone at dawn and say "honey the stars were great." |
I'm off to go buy a telescope. Thanks for the hint. NOT!!!!!
Nope to old for this staying up and be productive the next day crap. |
Well, called geocities today, they're accepting liability, calling it a no fault accident and having it towed to their shop. From what I gathered at a local Mercedes master mechanic and the dealer, its an easy total loss even before they know if there's transmission or differential damage. I strongly suspect differential damage....hopefully resolved next week, keeping my eyes open for something to replace it with.
|
Yea, we all laughed about it. The perfect excuse to fool around and we were the geeks outside in the COLD weather standing around looking up. Several of the guys had some fantastic telescopes. For me it was the ultimate cheap hobby. Go outside and look up, or look into someone else's telescope. The only expensive part was the drive to the country to find dark skies.
|
That would be a long drive here. I have a 6" (I think) but hte light pollution is so bad here forget it.
|
One of our best sites is in a canyon about 1/2 the way to Sid's house. It was about a 40 minute drive from my garage to the site. It was a very dark area. It was strange in that I had talked to several of the guys for many hours on multiple nights and had no idea what they looked like. They would show up well after sun-down and leave well before sun-up. It was neat to see them in the light at a monthly meeting.

Cool Vas!. He was great to talk to last night. His health is in decline so I took my 13 year old to see him before its to late. Good reason to skip school if you ask me.

David
Rick How did the boy enjoy it, David? |
Went to the gym and on the way home called past my barber for a number 1.
As its the holiday season he has a helper. Now I like my barber, but did not want to be rude. So this other old chap cut my hair. Its not that hard. I could tell it was going to be a shocker. I get home and look to find he has missed bits at the front and top. I cant see the back, but its a mess. :D:D:D |
we need pics
