or when i burned my arm twice in the same night on the wood burning stove, bad enough to scar it. and i already had two burns from the wood burning stove on my hand, also scarring. ya' know, crap like that. |
I meant share the hooch....
But the stories were good.... |
Just had a look at knob creek - we get ripped off don't we!
Bet my left nut that you don't get a blend with port over your way. Gives it a nice flavour. |
one interesting thing about the basil hayden whiskey: it is rye. i didn't know that until i went to the web page, just now. i had been looking for a good rye, but only found 'wild turkey rye'. i refuse to pay for 'wild turkey' products.
i have a new appreciation for the BH whiskey. |
One other crazy thing "D" did trade fungus for beer. I won that one!!!!

as for trading the fungus, just let me know. i think i'll try to get a big batch at once again, soon. (soon, in terms of mushrooms means one to three months.) |
How do you get those things to grow D, just stick the stuff in a jar then put them somewhere dark for a while?
|
really, it is about sterile technique. hydrate the grain, sterilize with a pressure cooker and innoculate with culture. very similar to making beer, actually. then, the fungus colonizes, builds energy, and forms mushrooms under the right conditions. some light is needed for proper mycelium growth and mushroom fruiting. temperature is also important, along with humidity. i built a custom humidifier for this purpose.
|
And they taste great to!!!!!!
|
i recently did an experiment with the fungus colonization. i inoculated four jars at the same time. two of them i place in the sun room with a heater keeping things about 70F. the other two i place in the cupboard in the kitchen, about 55 - 60F (really). the ones in the sun room are nearly colonized. the ones in the cupboard are maybe 10% colonized. now i know. :)
