Good, 10K. Now we can all go out and get ourselves a life.

Geronimo '74 04-12-2010 03:57 AM

No no, this thread is far from finished.
Success is not a goal, it's a journey.

porsche4life 04-12-2010 06:17 AM

By my count we have 16k posts left....

GH85Carrera 04-12-2010 07:58 AM

Good morning guys.

I had a busy weekend and now a busy week.

Hey Sid, you beat the 911s that are all stock and running street tires. Your gummy sticky race tires make any comparison invalid. :)

porsche4life 04-12-2010 08:30 AM

But what about that superior design... and gobs more HP?

Those tires are just equalizers... Kinda like a little guy bringing a bat to fist fight....

GH85Carrera 04-12-2010 08:41 AM

No doubt the driver is the most important thing in going fast. Number two is a good set of stickies. For our course hp is less important than good brakes.

porsche4life 04-12-2010 08:42 AM

Idk.... If I'd had some more HP to build more speed I could have shaved of a second or two....

RKDinOKC 04-12-2010 10:27 AM

If I was able to go faster I would have gotten a better lap time. :)

porsche4life 04-12-2010 10:28 AM

Ya.... You got beat by 2 hondas....

GH85Carrera 04-12-2010 10:45 AM

Yea, and the 914 would have beaten everyone if it did not break off a few rocker arms.

And they drove all the way from Amarillo!

RKDinOKC 04-12-2010 11:03 AM

Yep, but just barely and not surprising since the course was so tight with so many slaloms. The NSX was on race rubber. The S2000 does run the same street tires that I do, but was a second slower than me until he put on that supercharger.

When I had my BoxsterS I ran street tires like I do now. I was always getting beat by a Z06 on race tires by 2 seconds. He only came out once with street tires and I beat him by 3 seconds.

nynor 04-12-2010 11:13 AM

sid, tools were mailed this morning.

hi guys.

porsche4life 04-12-2010 11:41 AM

I think that kid in the 914/6 still isn't familiar with it...

Good to hear about the tools... Parts shipped this morning after a little credit card snafu....

GH85Carrera 04-12-2010 04:24 PM

Wow, I am as full as a tick. :D

My wife is in San Francisco this week on business.

I made a batch of sketti sauce Saturday evening that, to quote a redneck friend " it's so good it makes you wanna slap yo momma for never cooking anything that good." One reason I make it when she is gone is I don't want to share

After a couple of days in the refrigerator it gets even better. I have to ration my servings or I will eat a stupid big pile of spaghetti, instead of the big plate full I ate. Burp.

Schumi 04-12-2010 04:32 PM

spaghetti is one of the rare foods that does get better after sitting in the refrigerator.

porsche4life 04-12-2010 04:38 PM

My mom makes a good dish... basically fixes up a batch of rigtoni... Puts it in a dish with the sauce... cover with Parmesan cheese... bake... YUM

Gets better with age too...

GH85Carrera 04-12-2010 08:01 PM

It is my favorite meal. Better than prime rib or anything else.

porsche4life 04-12-2010 08:17 PM

Glen... You are up past your bed time...

Just go off the phone with schumi.... Got my questions answered... Hope we can get it all ironed out...

Geronimo '74 04-12-2010 09:50 PM

OUCH, headache!!
My head is killing me, back of the head, leftside. (No, I did not get donkey punched...)

Jeff mailed me yesterday, yadda yadda some blablabla, blah yadda yadda bla!
Also, I know a set of 15X11 and 15x9 Fuchs for sale, locally. partnumbers of the rears check out, the two front wheels have a different no. than I would expect.
I asked for a price, but he wouldn't give me one, he's letting the auction run.... He says he's not an expert and has no idea what they're worth. He does know they're rare....
I'm keeping my eyes open, not that I really need them but if I can get them cheap.... who knows.

And also: GOODMORNING GUYS!

porsche4life 04-12-2010 10:04 PM

Hmm.... Sleep wrong? Hard pillow? Blod clot?

Morning.... 15x9 and 15x11... Those would look like sex under a 944... if they'd even fit...

Schumi 04-12-2010 10:06 PM

Again, nice talking with you Sidney. I was being ushered out as they had to lock the lab I was in up and I didn't have my keys, but I'll call you again sometime when I iron out more details.

porsche4life 04-12-2010 10:09 PM

Sounds good.... I'm anxious.... Even though I don't have much time either in these next few weeks...

Dad and I will start arguing over a paint scheme soon... Part of me says gulf... Part of me says a nice white with some subtle stripes ala Martini....

Geronimo '74 04-12-2010 10:09 PM

Pillow is ok, Tempur stuff, developed by Nasa, lol

Those Fuchs will fit, if you take the tires off....

porsche4life 04-12-2010 10:11 PM

I'm thinking the 944 would need fender flares for those beasts....

Geronimo '74 04-12-2010 10:16 PM

Something like this, I suppose. (but this one actually is a 924 GTR)

porsche4life 04-12-2010 10:20 PM

Ya... thats a radical car... Way more radical than I ever want to go...

livi 04-12-2010 11:05 PM

Morning, guys.

I have a slightly neurotic tech question for you guys. Out of laziness and the fact that I only drove my 85 Carrera some 1500 miles last summer, I skipped the oil change. Since then she has been hibernating the last six months. Now I have the yearly MOT this week and I have negotiated a valve check with a Porsche tech in about a month (obviously with an oil change).

I want to drive her this coming month before the valve job. Should I:

1. Change the oil this week and fill her up with some cheap stuff to avoid driving with two and a half years of old oil for a month and then change for a better quality at the valve job, or

2. Just drive this month with the old oil (SWEPCO 306)?

I know, how neurotic is that..

Geronimo '74 04-12-2010 11:12 PM

Change the oil.

BUT NEVER WITH CHEAP STUFF, YOU DOOFUS!!

Oil is the blood of your car, do not use lesser quality.

And Marcus, please, an oil change is as difficult as filling it up at the gas station....
Get a big enough recipient, unscrew 2 bolts, drain oil, screw in two bolts, fill with new oil.
It is that easy.
Also, you could change the oil filter, to be sure.
Next step is doing your own valves....

livi 04-13-2010 01:04 AM

Thanks, G.

You know I have done all the service on my car so far myself, including valve adjustments. This time I feel too lazy and decided to let my friend do it. The oil and filter will naturally be changed when he does the valves, but as I said that is not for a month or so. As I want to drive the car in the meantime, I was thinking that its better to put in some fresh oil than to drive with the old one, but that I could save my money for a good oil until the valve change.

Geronimo '74 04-13-2010 02:00 AM

If you plan on replacing it before the valve adjustments, you might as well use good quality oil...

Geronimo '74 04-13-2010 02:02 AM

and I'm sorry I under estimated your tech skillz Doc... ;)

livi 04-13-2010 02:49 AM

No worries, G. They are rudimentary at best. :D

the_webbster 04-13-2010 04:21 AM

thanks for ratting out my planned betrayal to the air-cooled brotherhood, G.

We'll see what happens. the car has been picked up and I plan on driving it a couple of times before I do anything rash. I have found a bunch of nice GT3's for sale CHEAP though...

Oh, and congrats on surpassing 10,000!!

If I could find that perfect 2004 GT3 for around 50 large I would be at my bank asking for a loan. I try hard to not go looking. I really like being debt free.

Geronimo '74 04-13-2010 10:42 PM

Jeff, Glenn,

How'bout this?......
Man, this is pure sex on wheels...
