Being born in 65 I missed most of it but I did do the long hair thing and my dad flipped. My mom was cool with it so that meant dad was cool with it too.

slodave 02-28-2012 03:27 AM

I missed it too, but yet my hair is still past my waist. :D

azzarule 02-28-2012 03:27 AM

Where you been Doc?

livi 02-28-2012 04:59 AM

Up to my neck (and above) with work. Slowly beginning to pace myself.

Icemaster 02-28-2012 05:03 AM

since you're here, I'm assuming you survived. :-) Good to see you again.

Howdy guys, welcome back Doc!

Azzarule, I find it amazing thinking about the kids in school today that are required to have technology like a laptop or an iPad. When I was in school the science fiction of the day did not predict anything like a iPad power and ability. Only the government had computers and all of NASA had less than a small fraction of the power of just one iPad. Most computers were still using punch cards and magnetic tape was the new invention.

Everyone get off my lawn.

GH85Carrera 02-28-2012 05:41 AM

Welp, today I take the El Camino back to the dyno. The new 350 engine is 100% broken in, the dual exhaust is fully functional and the fuel injection system is working great. For just $35 I just have to know what the reality of the HP is. I can still lie if someone asks how much HP my engine has. ;) One thing for sure I will not take my 911 in. I don't want to know how many horses have escaped in 27 years.

If I could go back to that time and let my dad know that in about 5 years my brother would look like a later 70's version of George Harrison he would have really had something to freak out about.

I never personally got into long hair. Probably because I am lazy and short hair is easier to take care of. Long ago I dated several different ladies with long hair. It seems it was always in the way especially on windy days.

When do you do maintenance on an internationally accessed system?
When the number of active users is typically the lowest?

Porsche-poor 02-28-2012 07:10 AM

morning all. off to work a few hours then who knows what.

There is little doubt that is all comes down to cost. Obviously the major sites are always up and running. That costs a lot of money. For a free site with the heavy use Pelican gets it is pretty good. I hate occasional the slowdowns so I will double my subscription payment to Pelican. Heck I will even triple it!

nynor 02-28-2012 08:47 AM

good morning, guys.

my short rant on sending kids to school with ipads and such: who in their right mind thinks it is a good idea to give a distracted, clumsy, forgetful, and immature child a piece of equipment that costs upwards of $1000USD that they didn't pay for, is fragile, has a thin glass screen, and can be used to get themselves in all kinds of trouble? /rant
