Guess again Gummie bear, I never said I wanted a 17HMR

svandamme 03-04-2012 03:51 AM

Wiki says "It has a maximum effective range of about 500 yards (457 m) on prairie dog-sized animals, but the small bullets' poor ballistic coefficients and sectional densities mean they are highly susceptible to crosswinds at such distances."

So again , define long range Rick... How far do you wanna take it?

Rick V 03-04-2012 03:55 AM

500 is max for me. Anything beyond that I don't need to be shooting at. And yes wind, blades of grass, mosquitoes will all effect the tiny little bullets, but I like them. The premise of the 17 is the same as the 220 swift or the 223, small, light and fast, just no mass. Just designed to make holes, not big holes, just holes

svandamme 03-04-2012 04:02 AM

can't help it, it just seems awfully small for a boollit

Rick V 03-04-2012 04:09 AM

It is, very very tiny, but damn fun. I figured you would like it because you have to be surgical with the placements and not just chuck them out there.
I like-um

svandamme 03-04-2012 04:17 AM

surgical ? me ?!??

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHahaahahah
I'de get a MA Deuce in .50 BMG to get surgical at 100 yards, IF they'de let me.

I'de probably put a scope on it like Carlos Hatchcock did, just to look the part.

Yeah man you get it. :D

Rick V 03-04-2012 05:10 AM

Well it looks like I get to do what I do best. I get to go to the hospital and throw my weight around. The grandson just had surgery two days ago and last night started to have a fever. Come to find out earlier yesterday his diaper exploded and ended up corrupting his line. Well at a temp of 102 they decide to take blood to check the white blood count. At 104 they decided to wait for the blood work come back before starting antibiotics. My daughter had to call his regular Dr. at 10:30 at night to get any action taken. EXCUSE ME, oh no this is completely unacceptable. This is the readers digest version of the events but needless to say, I am going to swing by and make some people shake in their shoes.
Calmly, directly, and to the point, they will rue the day. Game face on. Time to shave and select the proper attire for this.

svandamme 03-04-2012 05:25 AM

Godo luck

Rick V 03-04-2012 05:33 AM

It was nice to get out for a few hours yesterday in the 964 garage queen. I wish I had time to drive her every day. Well, not so much in the DC metro area. But someplace with less traffic and more twisties.
