I like gardening, got heaps of Tomatoes this year, made some bolognaise sauce and it is in the freezer, in freezer bags, threw out all of my jars (short sighted moment!) in a bit of a clean up I did of the cellar about 2 months ago. sigh, had been hoarding jars for a coupple of years, and my tomatoes hadn't really done much for the last couple of years, drought, well this years rain has really done the job and we have had heaps, but no jars...

Azzy, there's a VA/DC/MD regional Porsche BBS you might want to check into for advice on that. The BBS is at Dorkiphus.net - NOVA/DC/MD Porschephiles

I hope this helps.

Ta Rick, will check it out, just one more thing to get organised, I will put it on the list!!!

Have to get a garage built for Miss Daisy and 'pusha' to live in whilst we are away.
Friend is willing to have it on the farm. 3-4 years is a long time to keep them in storage, but he will keep them running, or in Miss Daisy's case get her running for me.

Good morning guys.

I prefer the daylight savings time schedule. I like lots of sun after I get home from work. With some luck I should get my Elky washed this afternoon after I get home. Last week it was pretty much dark by the time I got home and fed the dogs. The dogs love daylight savings time for the first few days. They get to eat an hour earlier. They adjust real fast. They hate it when daylight savings changes back to regular.

i'm not going to say i love gardening, it's mostly that i don't mind it.
My goals are quite simple :
- do as little as possible
- figure out how to grow things, so i can if in the future i have to.
- Sit in my garden drink beer and watch chit grow

Had a huge garden growing up. Raised okra as my cash crop. Sold it at the local grocery store. Had the full gambit of veggies, corn, green beans, yellow beans, squash, peas, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, carrots, lettuce, radish, beets, peppers, etc.. Oh and an orchard with plums, apricots, peaches, pears, apples.

In hs wrote a term paper on building a green house and rotating planting to have fresh, ripe, and ready to pick veggies year round.

My grandfather has a HUGE garden on the acreage behind their house. It took him several years to get the soil to be really fertile. He brought in a LOT of horse manure. For some reason horse manure is better than cow manure. He raised earthworms just for the castings and to help with compost. After 8 or 9 years the ground was so rich all he had to do was throw down a seed and jump back. He raised corn that was just like the title song in the play "Oklahoma!" and he had "corn as high as a elephant's eye"

When his health got to the point he could not maintain that garden they sold the place and moved in closer to town. The developers flattened everything and put a big warehouse on the property.
