I've ridden dirty bikes, just never gotten to strap myself on a KTM....

Yes, I don't need as much HP to haul my little ass to the stratosphere....

I haven't ridden a 749, but I took a test ride on a 999S. That's with the testastretta motor (not the earlier desmoquattro, that dates back to the original 851 design). It's also the same motor found in the Monster S4RS (which was what I interested in, at that time--so I wanted to see what the motor was like). Holy jeebsus, was there power everywhere. It wasn't even breathing hard and I was doing felonious speeds. And the steering felt like it was hard-wired into my brain. You think and you're there.

that is the beauty of the ducati twins with fuel injection. huge amounts of useable torque and plenty of power. i smoke sport bikes in the canyons going uphill that have twice the horsepower of my humble SS. seriously. they cannot match the out of corner grunt and useable power bandwidth. i shift half as often.

KTM are the porsche of the dirt bike world.
No mods needed. :)

nynor 04-07-2012 07:46 PM

the KTM supermoto. one passed me in parleys canyon the other day. i was going 105MPH. yep. madness.

A friend of mine sold a KTM 535 to got a Ninja ZX6R. Said the ninja is tame in comparison...

The KTM liked to lift the nose at 90......

I tested a KTM 510 dirt bike when I bought one of my 450s.
Yeeeks! to much for this short man.
I was laying over the tank, could not keep the front wheel down.
My fav was my last 250 4 stroke MX bike.
It made 40hp, thats not alot, but it was light and a dream to ride in the bush. :)

Noah, washing a car with your daughter sounds difficult. I prefer soap and water. ;)

porsche4life 04-07-2012 08:10 PM

The Duc 848 makes 140hp.... The thought of that scares me.....

GH85Carrera 04-07-2012 08:12 PM

Good evening guys. I now have the new alarm system installed. It does not need a phone line so I can kill the land line. It has Internet connectivity do I can arm and disarm with my phone. I can monitor the new cameras from my phone or a computer with Internet access. I still have a lot to learn on the system.

Yup, subtle differences.....I believe the XKSS was slightly lower production as well.....

Gratuitous pic, because it's not likely to be this shiny again for quite awhile:

Poor neglected 930....

Send it to me, I will wash it....

Go to garden store buy an owl statue. Might help fend off the birds.
Simply love that color.

That's one thing about a silver/grey car. When it gets dirty, it often just looks like a progressively darker shade of grey.

I know doc, my corolla is a charcoal metallic. It doesn't look too bad unless it gets bird bombed like it did this week. Fingers crossed for heavy rain.

It was a very nice day today. A mild morning. Just right for my bike ride. Then I went to the hangar and by 10PM we were doing test runs. One kid has done 24 hour mountainbike racing and had some really bright battery powered headlights so we used those. It was very cool and rewarding to see it run. They are doing more testing tomorrow. The team lead said they would have stuff for me to do but I think I need to stay home and do school work. I don't think I will really be missed that much.

Dad got his red truck sold today... He is feeling good about it too. He got what a local dealer told him would be the top dollar they could get for it on the lot. And by doing that off CL we don't have to share with anyone... :D

Flieger 04-07-2012 11:43 PM

Not much talking today. Just some arguing about smart phones.

The bike banter was good. We need more pictures, though.

Flieger 04-07-2012 11:52 PM

There is an absolutely ginormous fuse (and lots of little ones) on the car. A "Slow Blow" Bussmann with a JLP (I think) rating. 250 Amps continuous or 1250 for 10-12 seconds.

Reminds me of this:
