Been longer than that for me.... You may need to teach me how again....

HHI944 04-20-2012 08:23 PM

The conversion is considered fairly practical on the old landys.......think the kit. Runs under 300 and os fairly simple install.

porsche4life 04-20-2012 08:24 PM

300? You aren't figuring tank cost....

It was a hot day today. I had the rear windows popped out on the BMW for the drive home and the side window down. Got rather noisy and with the warm wind on my face made my eyes tired. But once I got to the coast it cooled off and then a marine layer came in up against the mountains and it was nice and cool for most of the drive from Goleta on down to Camarillo. Cool enough to roll my window up for less noise. Too bad I can't close the rear windows while driving.

It was hot enough that I was craving sandals but those are not the best things to be doing any mountainbiking with. I could make do with just getting to class, though. One guy rides a fixie barefoot on many days. He does not have spiky metal pedals like I do, though. Otherwise I might have followed his lead today.

I have to say that while California can get pretty weird I like the laid back attitude in SLO. Bare feet, shorts, T-shirt. In class. Pretty sweet.

So in other words, nothing has changed up there.

I guess. I wasn't around back in your day. :D

Flieger 04-20-2012 09:03 PM

How is your studying going?

slodave 04-20-2012 09:06 PM

Fine up until today. Hot and lazy, went out to dinner and had a couple of beers, so break time tonight. Back to the books tomorrow. I mentioned taking the test end of next week. Still the plan, but I think I am going to switch from Thurs/Fri possibility for taking the test to Fri. or Sat.

Flieger 04-20-2012 09:07 PM

Sounds good. You are really gettin' r' done.

Flieger 04-20-2012 09:08 PM

I will try out the farmers market this week assuming it is not raining hard.

Outback Porsche 04-20-2012 09:14 PM

Nothing worse than test equipment failing overnight :confused:

slodave 04-20-2012 09:14 PM

I just booked 8 hours of flying time with my instructor next Wed (4) and Thurs (4). I need to get comfortable flying to other places and talking with other controllers.

Flieger 04-20-2012 09:15 PM

Fly to SLO! :)

slodave 04-20-2012 09:17 PM

I may do that for my solo cross country. I have to fly a 150 NM cross country, making 3 full stops at 3 airports. May be able to time it for lunch or something. That's too far to go for what I want to do next week.

Flieger 04-20-2012 09:23 PM

Well hopefully I can meet you when you do fly up.

I got a chuck roast, some fatback and a ton of fresh, local veggies at the farmers market today. Gonna wrap the roast in fatback, chop the veggies up and throw it in the crock pot for a day. The meat is all grass fed, pastured....blah blah blah.....

Talked to the cute new girl at the convenience store.......she gave me crap for driving an 'old man's car'.......told her maybe she should try dating men instead of boys and when she got tired of riding shotgun in 15yr old accords with fart can exhaust to let me know......anyway.....talk to her tomorrow and see if she's available for drinks tomorrow night.

See Max? You just have to grab the bull by the.... :D

HHI944 04-20-2012 09:45 PM

I was on a roll today......when I got to the cigar lounge.......one of the other regulars pulled me to the side and pointed out a tourist that had been there all day and was being obnoxious.......guy was a catholic priest.......I sat down, lit up the cigar and calmly informed him that there would be no 10yr old boys in the cigar bar, but he would probably have good luck at the family restaurant next door......he looked at me in shock, got up and left.
