i think you mean 'disillusion'....

and, yes, the spanish inquisition, and the oppression of academia is a big problem with organized religion. i doubt that there is a single mainstream religion that has not, at one time or another, rejected science, oppressed knowledge, and vilified those that brought science and knowledge forward.

I'm staying way the fark away from the religion topic....... I think we all know I have serious issues with organized religion and while I may not follow the teachings strictly, I've found quite a lot of solace and enlightenment in the teachings of the Buddha.

Tonight there is supposed to be the last in a series of internet outages as Cal Poly upgrades the network. The off-campus (like remote desktop) bitrate is supposed to be increased 10 fold. And some other stuff too I think. But I have to knock off early - the outage is supposed to be 10 pm to 7 am.
