we might as well give up hope then , let's face it, he's no Michael Jackson... that beard thing he tried in november, that just doesn't sell records...
Unless maybe your called Willy Nelson, but that's a very small market, and Willy ain't giving up his market share easily..

Morning,

Stigeon, any idea how much those custom Mahle pistons cost. I think I'm goint the same route...
Peter Frans posted about them in the rebuild forum, I asked him too, but he's not online.

I was quoted 255 / piston, ex VAT and shipping.

Why would you need custom pistons anyway?
your just going with a bigger bore, and there are kits out there for a 3.2>3.4 upgrade...

You do realize your going to be broke and without GF if you don't curb your enthousiasme before it's too late???

you got a 3.2 , those are flat domed, no valve pockets needed, no twin plugging... what's there to customise?
All you need is the same thing, but with a 98 mm bore...
it's a standard Mahle kit

http://www.ebsracing.com/content.wws?fname=Porsche-Mahle-Motorsport-Pistons-Cylinders.html
PS98-002 911 1984-89
(98mm) 3.2-3.4 Liter Motronic Injection 9.8:1 Compression

you'de only need something that ain't flat, if you change the cams to a hot spec, in which case you'll need new rockers, twin plugging, new intake/cpu... might as well sell me your roller for 500 bucks and get yourself a 3.6 from the get go

Porsche - Mahle Motorsport Piston & Cylinder Sets
PS98-002 911 1984-89

I want to maximize the CR (10 to 1, still safe from detonation and no need to twin plug)

The kit on the FVD site is CR 10.3 to 1 --> too much
ebsracing 9.8 to 1 --> not enough. and I am not going to pay 5 large, shipping and a boatload of import taxes.

you should be able to get the same kit in Europe.. it's a Mahle kit...

The difference, in piston, would be something like 3 CC more dome volume.
It's not even worth talking about.

Ask your friend who you say can give you good prices..
Surely he can get a regular Mahle kit for you?
a 3.3 kit kosts 2.330 euro's so a 3.4 kit can't be that much more.

If you go custom, you immediately add a 1000 euro's to the mix.
For a lousy 3 CC volume and .2 compression bump??

Boris is ok, he forgot about the beatings and is his usual overactive self again... killing mice, buggering Bubba... i'm sure he'll get more beatings in the future.

My musical talents are endless. I can play a CD, DVD, MP3 and even an analogue radio. I have as much singing ability as Milli Vannili.

I did notice some play in the rockers. I could move some of them whilst they where still in the camshafthousing. Movement from left to right, if I had to guess I would say almost 1mm.
I'm guessing that this is normal since I could not see any visual damage or wear on the rocker or the housing.
i think they should be reasonably tight, but i don't know of the top of my head what the tolerances are, or how to check them...

And now for something completely different... behold, the luckiest critter ever.
I had noticed Boris beeing acting weird under my desk.. but hadn't found anything..Then Bubba came in, and clobbered Boris.. didn't think nothing more of it...

2 hours later, Boris and Bubba outside doing what they do.. As i'm sitting at the my desk.. i'm hearing noises.. suddenly i see this one, carefully scoping out my living room...

This mouse, was caught by Boris, brought in, Boris got interrupted by Bubba, while the mouse was playing dead in between my computer cables...

Just let him out the front door... boy does he have a story to tell his grandkids or what?
