Thanks for the help. I am glad someone else found the same issues I was having with the files. Sid would tell me to go buy a mac. I think not the camera was less than $300 and a mac is what a couple grand.

Rick V 11-14-2012 04:18 PM

Rick V 11-14-2012 04:19 PM

You can get tablets that help with that - I had to get some over in Bali once to get me home on the plane ;)

I think David is the one having the problem. :)

Porsche-poor 11-14-2012 04:57 PM

RIP Zoey.

okay, i have a piece of software that can read the file and covert it into something more compatible for other stuff.

HandBrake

it isn't a full editing suite, but other software should be able to deal with the resulting file. i am checking something else. give me a few minutes.

nynor 11-14-2012 05:13 PM

yep, it seems to work. conversion to 'standard' codecs, will play on windows media player, etc.

Porsche-poor 11-14-2012 06:08 PM

Great I'll down load it later. Break time!

RKDinOKC 11-14-2012 06:41 PM

I tried handbrake and liked Cinematize better. My panasonic still camera does great video but uses a weird compression codec, AVCHD. I have to convert it to do editing and the conversion takes a long time.

A bunch of years ago I got a new Mac that was Apple's home video editing edition. It would digitize and let you edit video and sound in S Video from all the newest video cameras and VCRS. When finished editing you could send it out to your VCR to put it back on tape. It was pretty cool for the day.

D, the geek legend, well done, now send David a bill for a few beers!!!

Don't you hate computers and software!! Some things just suck.

Bit chilly tonight, I have been sitting here studying the road rules and doing the on-line tuition and haven't got my Ugh Boots on now my feet are cold, have to put the gas fire on to warm them up.
