Keep the sense of humor. You are a shoe in.

I love when my travels take me into NM... I always come home with my pants fitting a little tighter, after eating big plates of mexican food for every meal.... MMMMMMMMM

I forgot to put a new crush washer on the main oil plug for the 911 tonight. Grrr. So far, after a little drive from my parents to my place, still dry. I really don't want to have to drain $63 worth of fresh oil and try and keep it clean. Getting it back in will be fun.

Noah930 11-20-2012 09:42 PM

Rotisserie.

slodave 11-20-2012 09:48 PM

Haha! Not a bad idea.

slodave 11-20-2012 09:53 PM

What if I just jack the rear up really high? :D

Noah930 11-20-2012 09:53 PM

Going driving on Thursday morning?

Might work for the crankcase dry sump drain. For the oil tank, you'll have to jack it up really high from the right side.

Porsche-poor 11-20-2012 09:57 PM

Clean bucket.

Tentatively going to go play football with my cousins.

I think I am going to go this route:

Clean bucket, have the washer handy, carefully unscrew the plug, as soon as its free, plug hole with thumb, either get the washer on the plug with one hand or have my dad standing by. Once washer is on, quickly thread it back on. Trekkor and Patrick say I should only lose a quart.

Noah930 11-20-2012 10:07 PM

Wait, are you leaking or not? I've changed the crush washer. I've reused the crush washer. I've never noticed any difference in any car in which I've ever changed the oil.

I'm willing to help out if you want to spare your dad the messy hands.

slodave 11-20-2012 10:14 PM

I am not leaking - yet. I'm running 40wt and it did not get up to temps on the short drive home this evening. It'll be nice and hot for the smog test tomorrow, should that's when I should see signs. I'll have the car up in the air anyway, so I might as well just try and get it on there.

I plan on undoing the smog changes tomorrow afternoon. Not sure if you are working. I have to get my parents garage cleaned up.

porsche4life 11-20-2012 10:20 PM

Dave..... Like I've told you before, you'll be fine on a once reused washer.... I do it all the time with no issue.... Go 2 or 3 changes on them at times...

slodave 11-20-2012 10:23 PM

I don't have any washer on there! :) I took the old one off, forgot to put the new one on.

Noah930 11-20-2012 10:45 PM

Doh!

I'm working tomorrow. But it should be an early day (4 surgeries).

Just make sure the oil isn't up to operating temp when you try the oil plug switcheroo.

Have several 4 channel RCA helis, anxiously awaiting the cheap one with a live video camera.

slodave 11-20-2012 11:50 PM

I have a couple mini 3 channels. They can't fly anymore. Cheap fun.

Expendables 2 was typical, but good to get the adrenaline up. A few funny lines as well.

RKDinOKC 11-20-2012 11:59 PM

Just don't make the mistake of thinking you can fly a bigger 4 ch heli because u can do the cheap 3s. There is a huge difference between coaxial and fixed pitch and the again collective pitch. Can do coaxial like crazy, okay at fixed pitch, can barely hover collective.
