Glen I know that guns don't kill people, people kill people. And it is so sad that there are horrible people in the world.

As a mother I just pray that my family and children are safe, and we never have to deal with the horror or having a family member gunned down for just being in the wrong place at the right time.

It is FAR more likely they will die in a car crash than a bullet. Unless they get into dealing drugs or gang banging. I suspect thier mom would kill them first however. (if they start gangbanging)

Maybe we should keep the pro-/anti-gun discussion in PARF, where there are a plethora of gun threads going on right now. My 2 cents.

I've noticed my email account is getting worked hard by all the vendors I've ever dealt with, trying to separate me from my money. I guess they figure it's better for me to give, and for them to receive. Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas. :p

My rant for today.

Yeah, that wasn't our best day in history on anyone’s part. Unfortunately, no matter how much our governments try to coddle us, they'll never stop the loons from being loons.

I was a gun owner at time, and I would have said a responsible one. My use was for recreation; fox hunting, pig shooting, duck hunting, etc. The impact for me after our prime ministers knee jerk reaction, and for a lot of others, was that the (then) new weapons storage laws made it too expensive for me to hold my weapons at home.

I, like others was not able to afford the cheapest (at the time about $1000) 'approved' gun safe to store a few hundred dollar’s worth of weapons. Incorrect storage fines/gaol penalties were excessive at the time.

The up-side is that we haven't had anything on that scale of incident since, so as far as the polies are concerned, the laws have worked. In reality, there seems to be a random shooting of some kind in oz almost daily at the moment. It'd be interesting to (if I could be bothered) add up the numbers to see if there really has been a difference.

And that's the catch really, if we could be bothered.

A random shooting here and there just falls into the noise. It only really affects those that are close to the victim/s, the rest of us go on with our lives a short while after like nothing happened. We don't know them, what does it matter to us?

These other wackos that take out multiples, get the attention of nations. That attention last a 5hit load longer, and we take count of the victims. We hear the stories, we empathise, and they impact our lives.

I wonder what it is in our nature that has us differentiate.

Yea, a loonie took out several buildings, 19 children under the age of 6 and 168 people and injured more than 680 people right here in my city with fertilizer, diesel fuel & a rented truck. We got some small level of justice, we caught him within an hour and kept him in a cell until we killed him back.

I bet money that you can buy that same stuff down under.

Morning all. All this gun talk bores me to death. Whats next the internet so I can't make bombs? Or my car cause they cause drunk driving?

Rant over.

azzarule 12-19-2012 08:56 AM

okay ........ rant over.

Back to cars, cooking, photography, dogs, kids, cats, computers, boobs, etc..............

Porsche-poor 12-19-2012 08:57 AM

cooking good god no. Not that I have time this week. We have family coming over for xmas and I am so far behind with everything I'm thinking of calling it all off.

azzarule 12-19-2012 09:19 AM

ha ha David, I am putting any more Christmas cooking on hold, we are going to Orlando for Christmas, so Christmas Dinner is going to be a very casual affair, I am sure that if I use the oven of some rented house I will have to clean it, and that is definitely not a happening thing!!!!!!

So we will go out for Christmas Dinner and make a mess somewhere else!!!

Currently the family is trying to figure out what day we will open presents, I am opting for Friday morning. As we don't have any little ones to worry about (youngest is 14) we don't have to go through that, "we have to take all of the presents with us" scenario, as no one really believes in Santa.

Porsche-poor 12-19-2012 09:41 AM

sounds like fun. i'd love to be going away but not this year.

GH85Carrera 12-19-2012 10:29 AM

Jim Richards 12-19-2012 02:03 PM

If it can alleviate sugar-shock, it's worth a try. :D

Porsche-poor 12-19-2012 02:05 PM

well it can lead to other sugar burning activities.

Jim Richards 12-19-2012 02:09 PM
