got an outstanding phone bill letter from AT&T this morning of $9,495.73,.................................

Needless to say I have been on the phone sorting it out, I hope, that it is an accident, and I can convince them that they have sent me a letter and bill in error!!!

I think I have received the outstanding bill for the Embassy of Australia!

I hope I am not expected to pay this thing, might stretch the budget a tad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are there any teenaged daughters in the house?

GH85Carrera 01-23-2013 08:07 AM

I vividly remember opening my AT&T bill once ant it was several grand. I about fainted. I spent a couple of hours on the phone and finally talked to the real supervisor head honcho. They were the first person to almost understand the problem. One year later the same error came up. I had to write a long letter and get a call from the top of the food chain. She must have been the only one with any brains in the building. A 5 minute conversation whit her cleared it up and all has been fine for the last 10 years.

For that reason they are one of the few companies that I don't have set up on automatic payment. I make them mail me a paper bill that I review, then I issue an electronic payment from my bank on a specific date.

It is crazy that they would not alert you the second they saw something unusual.

By default people don't manage to keep problems from happening, they manage by fixing the problems that come up. They spend all their time and effort repairing things that have broken instead of doing preventive maintenance.

Not this person. My two cars have lots of miles and years on them and I would drive either of them to the coast with no worries.

and then there are those who intentionally fk things up to make life worse for everyone around them.

which is why i am getting my PALS certification so i can get the hell out of my job. in their infinite fktardedness, they have decided to make sure that all of us working during the day will be shorted at least one shift a month, meaning, among other things, that it will be impossible to accrue PTO, and i will be receiving phone calls at 4AM to let me know that i've been bent over (again).

my new definition of insanity: staying at the same employer, thinking that it cannot possibly get worse.

i am trying very hard to not send an email, with that very quote, to my manager. i am so pissed off i could probably nasotracheally suction myself.

it is now a balmy 19F. good times.

edit: it dropped a degree to 18F.

Hmm. Apparently P. Diddy's in my office bldg somewhere. His Maybach is parked out front.

I was surprised to see the car. Even in LA, Maybachs are rarities. Everyone else in my office is all aglow about the owner.

Noah930 01-23-2013 12:04 PM

LA weather: I just went for a walk in a t-shirt. I had a long sleeve on over it, but it got too hot so I tied that around my waist.

GH85Carrera 01-23-2013 12:09 PM

So is P-diddy getting a boob job?

pete3799 01-23-2013 12:13 PM

Hasn't gotten above zero yet. Not holding out much hope at this point.

Porsche-poor 01-23-2013 12:13 PM

But he could be a perfect boob. ;)

Noah930 01-23-2013 12:19 PM

Alas, no cosmetic surgery for him or anyone in his entourage. My office bldg has 10 floors (well 13 if you include the parking levels). So it's probably one of the other offices. The girls in the office saw him step out of the car (we're on the ground level).

GH85Carrera 01-23-2013 12:25 PM

I know what a Maybach looks like but if P-Diddy came in my office I would have no idea who he is.

We have committees that examine the processes that are working fine, then change them to screw things up worse.

Is there a urologist in your building, maybe P Diddy is having a problem making a P Diddly puddle.

nynor 01-23-2013 12:56 PM

if any of you need the donut gasket on the exhaust of your forester changed, let me know. after getting the wrong gasket yesterday, i had to change it again today. i can do the whole thing in about 10 minutes. third time is the charm, i hope.

Don't you just love it when they give you the wrong parts.
I did the timing belt / water pump on my daughters car. Got the pump and belt on and discovered that the new tensioner wouldn't fit
