Good morning folks.

I watched a silly movie last night. The 8 year old boy in me just loved it. The adult in me laughed at how implausible most everything was. The move was Battleship. The last 30 minutes is like a comic strip and I guess a movie based on a board game was not intended to be a serious movie. The 8 year old part was cheering.
Leave your common sense behind and enjoy it. They blow lots of stuff up real good! It probably has fewer women fans than the three stooges. |

Help me understand here.
You get what looks to be a nice used Porsche 944. It's not a 944 Turbo so your are not about performance, but instead like the car for what it is, ie. the "Porsche" experience, looks, feel, etc. Then you find this particular used Porsche has some weird problem that is diffucult to find and resolve. So... out of frustration you are planning to replace the motor with a chevy? Doesn't that totally change the whole Porsche experience? Why not just sell the troublesome car and get something with a Chevy motor already in it if that is the motor of preference? |
The part i didn't understand about the Battleship movie was the weird agressive passive alien thing. Touch their ship and they go all aggressive, yet change directions so you aren't heading towards them and they instantly call off their aggression. Just makes it too easy for the humans to win when you can have your aggressive aliens just kind of randomly let the hero save the day.
i thought the movie American Battleship, though much lower budget, was much better. |

I'll happily explain the idea in a private conversation to spare the others if you want :). |

Ok, so then I won't waste my time getting into it with you. ;)

That's okay, I don't understand a lot of things.

I didn't get a ready to rock-n-roll 944...that wasn't what was intended and at this rate I'll probably end up buying another that is ready to go and will get leave it alone. |
Oh yeah,... "It blowed up real good!"
the movie Battleship. Effects reminded me of Transformers movies. |
Janet, its your car, so whatever you want to do, just do it. But a Porsche should have a Porsche engine, just saying.
But I know exactly how you feel, the whole Porsche mechanics can be so bloody hard to diagnose if you don't have the Porsche knowledge, Pusha has a transplant from a 2.4 to a SC3.0 and my mechanic who is a VW and mopar guy just can't get it running. It still sits up on blocks in OZ and will be waiting for us when we get home in 2015, he has occassional Porsche guys look at it for a few hours, but still doesn't run smooth, just starts up and dies almost immediately. Funny when we put the engine in, it started up almost immediately, no oil pressure, shut her down almost immediately, the oil thermostat had been put in backwards, by who ever rebuilt the engine, dumb ass mech. Anyways, it was diagnosed by my mech and we took the motor back out, turned it round, put it back, started her up again, no probs, timing was really advanced, tuned it up, then now it just starts and dies. Went through the whole fuel system for pressures all up to spec, went through the electrics, all good, were going through the whole vacuum system ****, didn't find any leaks, got the 5hits just spent time putting the interior back together, new roof liner, and the windows back in, posted to USA, put the cover on and left. Poor Pusha. Just saying they can be very frustrating, but you shouldn't give up, especially when you have a Porsche mech who is willing to look at it for you, within driving distance, wish Rick lived in Oz! |
You know how bad I would feel dragging Rick out here to look at my undoubtedly piece of crap car ?:) horrible guilt.
