well the powers that be have put me in charge of the migration from office to office 365 and now you know as much as I do........

RKDinOKC 03-19-2013 12:12 PM

I have an office365 account, not messed with it much. Microsoft upgraded my hosted exchange accounts last weekend to full Office365. It pissed off my Russian users as they don't like the new interface. The migration to microsoft hosted exchange from godaddy hosted exchange was very time consuming.

Microsoft started hosting Exchange email a few months ago. This month they raised the licensing fee to software makers using their exchange compatibe active sync technology and automatically upgraded all the exchange hosted users to office365 want it or not. Going to hard to compete with their pricing. Looks to me like Microsoft and Adobe both are trying to get everyone in the cloud to justify maintaining their server farms. If you don't have good internet, you are out of luck.

Porsche-poor 03-19-2013 12:24 PM

not my problem. I just have to go install it all and walk away.......or is run!!!!!

I'm old enough I went through the whole debate on how computers running local software are so much better than terminals running software on a mainframe. Now with all this cloud stuff it seems we are going back to terminals again.

Has anyone else noticed that since Apple went to Intel processors the processor speeds have stopped going up.

I get why they would need them in general but, the same information can be shown on a smaller scale. If it keeps you in business sell those suckers!

It comes down to the scale of the image and how many square miles they want to see. If you want to see roads and houses at a scale of 1 mile is 4 inches but you want to see 10 miles in each direction from a center point that is a print showing 20 miles in each direction overall. That would be a 80 inch square print.

We can make that same thing is a pure digital form, but you need a fast computer and good display and a fast network connection to make it work.

I have been working on my Family Tree. I have information going back 6 generations. Ancestry.com has links to other relatives. I found one of my cousins that has done extensive research on some relatives. She found a line going back to 1600s.

No links to a family fortune so I guess I will keep working.
