Gee, thanks Glen. :p

Hi David. Happy Friday.

Porsche-poor 04-12-2013 06:53 AM

Yep tgif. Off early after spending two hours doing IT crap last night.

Morning folks. Often when I tell people we shoot aerial photos they ask who we sell them to. My usual response is "anyone with money" and that is accurate. We had a customer call that works for a legal firm with several names, like Dewey Cheatem & Howe. They want photos of the back yard of some individual house, and they want various oblique angles. Whatever, we are happy to shoot them.

This is just part of the image but I noticed the big black blob and thought our camera had glitzed out. Then I noticed it is the shadow of the airplane! He had it in a steep bank because there is just one wing in the shadow.

I have to wonder why they want a bunch of pictures of some back yard from the air. But the customer with a open checkbook is always right.

Porsche-poor 04-12-2013 07:11 AM

Interesting invasion of privacy aspect with that one. Wait till the guy who owns the house finds out.

GH85Carrera 04-12-2013 07:31 AM

I can guarantee there are pictures from Bing & Google of your house. High resolution and straight down. In fact your house gets photographed several times each year. The tax collector uses it to see if you built a pool or added a building in the back yard. If it is outside it can and will be photographed.

I found this old photo in the pile of photos I have been digging through. This is me on my bycicle next to the Apollo 11 "moon module" that kept the world safe from the moon bugs. Neal Armstrong waved at me. This was just a few blocks from our house at Hickam AFB in Hawaii. They loaded the module in an Air Force cargo jet and flew back home.

Oh O know that but if lawyers are involved then you can bet it will get fun.

Outback Porsche 04-12-2013 08:30 AM

Nice bit of history there Glen.

Two thumbs up, awesome. Word, groovey, far out.

I was a huge fan of astronauts growing up. We didn't have as much cool new stuff going on at the time, but I loved reading books and watching vids of the first twenty years.

I made it a point to see a shuttle launch, kept trying to get family to go and it kept not working out. Last shuttle launch I drove down for it. Had a decent chance of being delayed, but I wasn't gonna take the chance of missing it. Ended up launching on time. Same launch pads and assembly building as the moon rockets. Shuttle main engines are the same as well.

Sound travels faster through water than air, so you can see a wave of fish jumping out of the water coming at you over a minute before you ever hear the shuttle.

It amazes me the stupidity of the people today who think we didn't go to the moon...

Posing with the exhaust plume after shuttle launch.

We watched the landing at prime time. Since we were in Hawaii it was perfect timing.

There was a story on 60 Minutes last week about the Kenyan "lost boys." They grew up in a mud hut with a basic stone age life. They were brought to the USA and they had a real chalenge understanding what was real or not. They just could not understand that going to the moon was real yet a talking horse was just TV magic. TV itself was just magical to them.

Arthur Clark said it long ago. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
