I'm just calling in for it so they won't see the hand. Still bleeding a bit.......probably should have gotten stitches or at least gone to the doc, but I'm not sure how much they could have done with the shredding that occured

Porsche-poor 09-04-2013 01:34 PM

probably glue it together.

GH85Carrera 09-04-2013 01:40 PM

Yep, purple colored super glue. It works great for closing a wound.

I spent the morning holding my newborn while my wife went to work. Probably about 3 hours straight. I couldn't feel my arm by the time she came home, but it was a really nice 3 hours. I can respect Schumi's (and others') desire not to have kids. But I respectfully submit there is no way to understand having a kid until you do it yourself. You can imagine it, but it's not the same as doing it in the first person. It's not the same as dating a chick with a kid. It's not the same as taking care of your sister's kids. That doesn't make me a better person (to have a kid) by any stretch. But it's just not the same.

Yeah, that stuff isn't cheap. Even at my cost it's about $40 per single-use vial.

Porsche-poor 09-04-2013 02:03 PM

Duct tape!

Dude... it's $30 on amazon!!

Amazon.com: Dermabond Single Unit Topical Skin Adhesive .5ml (1 sealed vial): Health & Personal Care

Or a knock off for 22.

Amazon.com: GLUture Topical Adhesive, 1.5 mL: Pet Supplies

some how I think he likes his lic to practice meds.

Noah930 09-04-2013 02:12 PM

It's usually sold in boxes of 12. They're individually-packaged, as you can see from the Amazon ad. But if we ever had a problem and someone came investigating, we'd potentially be in trouble to purchase it the way that vendor's selling it.

If they can sell it for $30, though, you can see how much fleecing is going on via middlemen.

porsche4life 09-04-2013 02:15 PM

Ya, I understand the legal issues for you. Remember, I was a pharm tech and I know we would be in deep for doing something like that... ;)

But yes I agree with the Fleecing. Look at McKesson, who's CEO is one of the highest paid in the country at over $100mm/ year. All they do is handle medical products.

I'm thinking I may have to start taking a bottle with me backpacking though. Bandaids aren't quite as durable for cuts on the hands....

Noah930 09-04-2013 02:29 PM

I think it's a great thing to have around. I think I sent a few to vash through our Christmas exchange last year, as he's always out and about. Lord knows he must be thrilled with the purple color. It could only be better if it were pink. There are plenty of times when a bandaid won't be enough, but you're not someplace where it's convenient to stitch up a wound. So Dermabond it.

Porsche-poor 09-04-2013 02:48 PM

is there a special reason for the purple color?

Noah930 09-04-2013 02:54 PM

No idea.

HHI944 09-04-2013 02:57 PM

To show the world you aren't man enough to just walk it off or get stitches

Porsche-poor 09-04-2013 02:57 PM

bummer. I was thinking it had a great back story to it. probably just some chemist dropped the wrong color in on the first batch.

Miley get a new pet day?

RKDinOKC 09-04-2013 03:11 PM

Cyanoacrylates like Dermabond have a color code as to how thick the glue is and how fast it hardens. There is, in order of thinnest to thickes, purple, blue, and pink. The color code is exactly the same with hobby grade cyanoacrylate.

Porsche-poor 09-04-2013 03:13 PM

so the bottle is purple but not the stuff inside?
