Dang noise. I have been playing in the garage all day. Having a blast. Now my cell phone, iPad the wife's iPad and cell phone and the home alarm system are all warning the same thing. The sirens are blaring. Ok already it is a tornado. It is across the city. I am going to go outside and take a look.

GH85Carrera 05-19-2013 01:56 PM

Just one little lowering.

Lots of thunder.

I hope all stays well Glen (and the rest of you crazy people who live where the crazy funnels live)

porsche4life 05-19-2013 02:23 PM

Tornado on the ground north and east of Glen and Richard.... They should be in the clear, but fingers crossed.

GH85Carrera 05-19-2013 02:26 PM

Ok now it it has my attention. It is just 2 miles away. It missed us just north by 2 miles. It is doing damage. It is not good.

GH85Carrera 05-19-2013 02:27 PM

Most of our neighbors were outside watching it.

GH85Carrera 05-19-2013 02:35 PM

I just counted 12 neighbors outside watching. It went by us by two miles as I said. We did not even loose power. We could watch it on TV and see where it was block by block.

GH85Carrera 05-19-2013 02:37 PM

Back to the garage.

Rick V 05-19-2013 02:59 PM

You do know it is very strange for those of us hear on the east coast to see how casual you mid westerners are about those things.
I would not poo for a week.
But then again hurricanes don't phase me

Jferr006 05-19-2013 02:59 PM

I love a good storm.

Porsche-poor 05-19-2013 03:07 PM

We have volcanos and earthquakes.

Jferr006 05-19-2013 03:27 PM

Hubs has his chainsaw out limbing up cedars... I never have to ask twice to have stuff cut down :)

GH85Carrera 05-19-2013 04:11 PM

Rick, hurricanes wipe out entire cities and regions. The meanest baddest tornado with 300+ MPH winds hit parts of OKC. It wiped houses off down to the foundation. Nothing at all left but a slab of concrete. Bad pookie. BUT just a block or so away the houses were undamaged. I have aerial photos that show the dirt pulled up and scoured. But a short distance away they are fine.

If it hits you it is bad. But we did not get but a trace of rain. We watched the live feed on my cell phone from the TV station. It was not a mystery. We knew what was happening. It does not sneak up on anyone unless they are not paying attention. We had many many many warnings.

GH85Carrera 05-19-2013 04:43 PM

There is a very big tornado southwest of us. It is not coming our way at all. It will be a bad new tornado for someone out there. The tv has been going non stop for hours. No commercials no breaks just constant coverage of the tornados.

pete3799 05-19-2013 04:47 PM

Aside from the tornados.....how's the motor/tranny coming along?

porsche4life 05-19-2013 04:49 PM

Janet.... Your hubs needs a tree shear on a skidsteer. We had a guy come take out 10 or so cedars and 20-30 other trees this weekend. Took him about 4 hours to make a massive pile of trees! We's gunna have a big bon fire soon!

When I built a kit, I took all the parts and sanded them down to half the thickness before removing them from the die cut sheets. Used a palm sander on a very flat surface. Then I would put ultra thin CA superglue along the open grain edge of the balsa letting it wick into the wood. It is amazing how far through the balsa the CA would wick, most parts you will see the grain on the opposite end of the part get wet/darker. Then wet it with CA accelerator mist to make sure the CA set. The result was a Balsa Acrylic Composite that is lighter and stronger than the original balsa. It would also join much stronger and with less glue to other parts since it was already saturated with glue. A typical 5lb 40 size plane given this treatment would only weigh 4lbs when built, very significant with much better flying characteristics.

Ok, time to soak up some pelican knowledge. The airframe I've been looking at suggest specific electric engines. Any reason I couldn't use a nitro?

HHI944 05-19-2013 04:58 PM

And Tweeze.....SMOKIN!!

I spent all freaking day in the garage. It was great. I got the engine compartment all cleaned up. The heater hoses are replaced, the passenger side window is now lubed and working faster, the horn is fixed, the windshield squirters and the headlight squirters are working normally again. I did several other little fixes. All that is left is the brake fluid swap. I do that every spring.

Oh the new engine mounts are installed.

When the project is done I will have a 911 with no oil leaks, fresh clutch, fresh transmission, and a ton of while I am in there fixes. There will not be anything left to do except drive it. I will have to find some projects for the El Camino after that.

Exactly what we are about to do. Bonfire. It was a spur of the moment trimming.
