Like this watch so much I got two of them...
http://www.zipbang.com/928gts/no94.jpg It is limited edition only 100 made. They sold for $800. It's a German made Laco watch with swiss movement. It is autowind and has an exhibition back (you can see the guts), Was given two for designing the face, hands, and strap. |
Pic no worky :(
|
The chick that was the original/previous owner had some kind of flowery name for the color, the sticker says Plymouth Blue.
|
That's a pretty slick looking watch!
|
I like it too. Different.
|
Different because it was designed by a different guy! ;)
It's pretty stunning in person. |
I want to see it in person! You have two of them Richard?
|
Yawn bed time. Night all.
|
|
Thanks I really LIKE mine.
Here is the ad for it...both leather and stainless bands. http://www.zipbang.com/928gts/watch/watchad.jpg The exhibition back http://www.zipbang.com/928gts/watch/watchback.jpg The glow, the red was custom made... http://www.zipbang.com/928gts/watch/watchglow.jpg Each watch came with a certificate featuring a picture of YOUR car. My car is a 94 model and I got number 94 of 100. http://www.zipbang.com/928gts/watch/certinside.jpg |
Yep, gave me two for doing the design, the artwork files for the watchmakers, and customizing the certificates with the pictures of each watch owner's car in the background. I have #32 and #94. Both watches I have included both bands and I got 3 extra leather bands after wearing out the first one.
The hands look like the gauge needles on the dash, The only numbers on the face are 9 2, and 8. The minute hash marks look like the tach and turn red like the red line on the tach. At 12 is the Actung exclaimation point like the warning light on the dash and at 6 o'clock is the siloette of the 928. It's hard to see in photos but the second hand is black with a white tip. The strap has the air holes like the early seats and red stitching to tie it in with the red on the face. |
The owner of the Valencia Time Center has a 928 and handles the watch sales. He was going to put up the initial cash to have them made. When we showed the watch design to Porsche Design to get the okay for the use of the 928 silhouette and make sure we weren't violating any copyrights or trademarks, Porsche Design put up the money to have the 100 made. We already had enough watches sold to cover the cost, but PD wanted final approval to make sure we didn't change anything or put Porsche or Porsche Design on the watch anywhere.
There are only 6 or 7 watches that hadn't sold the last time I talked to them. |
Morning guys!
Cool watch! |
Mornin' y'all.
Nice watches. |
Morning everyone! Alright enough with the watch porn. I have a fetish with that stuff. Last year, the fiance got me a larger watch case. She makes fun of me all the time for having too many watches.
|
I feel left out. I need to collect something.
|
Good morning all.
Another busy day at work. I am printing a 5x5 print. I really don't think the customer realizes how big 5x5 pictures are. I hope they have a big open wall space. |
Awesome, now you guys have me browsing Amazon for watches. I think I found a new piece for my collection.

I wouldn't like that one because the open face part makes it too difficult to tell what time it is.
Well, my only other really nice watch is this one.. http://cdn.creationwatches.com/produ...NA481P_MED.jpg Had one of these Casios for a short time. https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/i...Qo4GovWlbbEyDo It was atomic/solar powered. It used the atomic clock radio signal to set the time, and the entire black part of the face was all solar cell. Something about it made my wrist ache so sold it to a colleague. |
With the engineering and mechanical side of my personality, I really like seeing the internal workings of a clock.
