fine Dee, quiet weekend, visit to the Amish Markets for some autumn/fall flowers, and quiet day today reading and watching the Redskins get flogged!

Anyone in Chicago this week?

GH85Carrera 09-15-2013 05:05 PM

I could not be lazy all day. I ended up with a easy project, change the oil and lube the front end on the Elky. I am too lazy to figure it out, but I wonder how many times I have done that on that particular vehicle. Probably 90 times or so.

Good to see that you did something constructive Glen, me I am still reading my book, which is not productive at all.

Last day in the studio for the summer band. Now the week to prepare for Dreamfest and relax.

Took some serious scrubbing, but I got the pontoons scrubbed free of all the dirt, sticker residue and all of the nitro exhaust that will come off.....next step is to paint them......then build the main deck, fiberglass it, paint it, then rig up the electronics.....then attach the two. Been doing some comparative analysis based off other 'kit' boats out there and I'm thinking my initial top end of 50mph may be a little low.... Apparently boats with a good bit more displacement, running .40 engines are hitting 50 easy...the .46 I'm running is putting out about 40% more hp than those .40s

Porsche-poor 09-15-2013 08:36 PM

Sounds like it could get away really fast.

HHI944 09-15-2013 08:59 PM

I think I'm gonna need a bigger pond......actually thinking about sealing stuff up really really tight and throwing a deflector/filter on the carb inlet so I can take it out to the beach for some open water use.

Morning Y'all
Had a fun weekend with the grandkids and even found a very nice relaxing fun route to get there that spends most of my time in W.Va.

Jim Richards 09-16-2013 02:51 AM

Mornin' Rick. It sounds like a nice weekend for you and Beth. We went hiking in the north section of the Shenandoah Nat'l Forest. Also managed to get in some twisty road driving. Great fun. :)

Isn't Michael (70SatMan) somewhere in VA right now for work?

Rick V 09-16-2013 02:56 AM

He is but he is out east

Jim Richards 09-16-2013 03:11 AM

Morning Jim, Rick,,

Yep, out in the Chesapeake area playing grease monkey, working 6- 10s. Bit of a change for me but, I'm getting a lot of insight into what the guys go through for preventative maintenance. My "boss" tells me I'm the only engineer he's met that's willing to come out and work like this in the field.

Took me all Sat. to pressure wash 1/2 of an 18m reflector using an 80 ft manlift. Gonna finish her up today.:D

Going to be out here another couple of weeks I imagine.

GH85Carrera 09-16-2013 05:13 AM

Good Monday morning folks.

Since I wash the Elky on Saturday we had 1/100th of of inch of rain. Just enough to get the ground wet and mess up a clean car. If we had some decent rain I would not really mind as much.

When we have a rain that is just enough to mess up cars I always blame my friend that owns several car washes. ;)

Porsche-poor 09-16-2013 07:18 AM

Morning all.
Rain? We had rain and electrical storms. It blew thru out area and headed for the football game.

GH85Carrera 09-16-2013 12:36 PM

Haven't you heard. THEY ALL DO THAT!

At least that is what that dealer is likely to tell you.

HHI944 09-16-2013 12:52 PM

Nope, even better, the service manage tried to tell me it was coolant from when the thermostat housing was replace!
