When I drove to downtown OKC for the PCA Christmas party there were more than a few icy streets in the downtown area. My Elky has limited slip so if I tap the gas both tires start to spin and it is easy to rotate around a corner. I like to hang the tail out while going 5 MPH. My wife HATES it. She acts like we are going to slide off the road and the car will explode like in the movies. It is strange that the rear end hangs out at least once when she is in the car. ;) |

That's the fun thing about my Corolla in the snow, the ebrake becomes a fun lever, can swing the ass out on command. :)
|
Yea, the emergency brake is a real pain for the Elky. Stomp on the little pedal in a goofy position and then fumble around for the separate handle on the dash to release it.
I have never ever tried that in the 911. I know the e-brake shoes are expensive and a real pain to change. |
I assume the 911 is like the 944, and the shoes are in the center of the rotor? They really aren't that bad...

Making progress on the engine. Time to install the cams! |

I am going with a 964 grind cams. That is about as wild as I want to go.

That should be a nice improvement.

My wife came by my office today. She had an meeting a few miles away. After her meeting she had a 1.5 hour gap until her dentist appointment. She did not want to go all the way back to the school so she came here. She caught up on on her email and responded to several.
The tough part for me was looking busy the entire time. With the crappy weather and snow on the ground we have nothing new to fly. We actually had a client come walking in the front door and two phone calls so I was busy! ;) Phew. |
C'mon glen, she's a smart lady, she knows you don't work too hard! All she'd have to do is come here to find that out! :p
What are you going to do once she retires and can stop by more often? ;) |
Aw man, that would be tough. We had to hold in the burps and other gaseous emissions the entire time she was here. :p

Using the PARKING brake to initiate rotation on the 928 is VERY awkward. The brake handle is on the left side almost on the floor and you gotta have the clutch in. The really challenging part is letting off the brake and letting the clutch back out while applying the correct amount of throttle and steering input to control the rotation and not spin out or completely stop rotation. Glen, that engine is wayy too pretty, better give it too me to use as decoration! ;)
And the Ebrake in the 944, is the same as the 928, yes it is worthless to use to unsettle the ass. All you end up doing to locking the rear up and getting your arms all crossed up. |

My rear tires go away fast enough, I don't need any help hanging the rear out in a 911. Ken Block has some great videos and can scoot around. He does not buy his own tires or brakes. Tanner Faust is great with it and he can drift like crazy. He is a LONG way from fast. |
Tanner has won quite a few race championships aside from his drift career...

Evening Y'all.
We had some black ice this morning due to the sub freezing and all the crap we had on tuesday. The end of my road was a sheet about a hundred feet long and the Boxster just kind of did the Bambi on Ice thing when I hit it. I entered the main road broadside and pointing in the correct direction so it was all good and a rather efficient way to leave my neighborhood. |

Bert is going to be upset.
