D, I'm not sure I'd bother milling the heads. If it didn't overheat enough to mix fluids, you should be fine and, honestly, the block is just as likely to need milling. Besides, the RN replacement gaskets are usually a bit thicker to accommodate minor deviations. Even with timing chain and new gears (the teeth are nylon) you're looking at $150 in parts.

i'll check the heads with a proper straight edge and see how many sheets of paper i can fit under the straight edge. the cylinder heads were only re-done a couple of years. i am truly hoping that i don't find shenanigans when i pull it apart. i'd hate to have to find another shop.

i think the timing chain kit i was looking at has metal teeth. i could be wrong.

and yes, you do look like a hairdresser: its just that the hairdresser YOU have to go to is not very good.... :D

Are you looking at the Atlantic British kit? It does appear to be metal.

HHI944 01-16-2014 06:00 PM

The Atlantic British head gasket kit looks awesome.....every single gasket, even all the little seals and o rings plus new head studs for $200

About 3 years ago we had one of the wettest winters I can remember. This is the warmest and driest winter I can remember, and another guy at work who is probably 20 years older agreed.

Evening all.

TGIF, knocked off w*@# early to get a massage. Waiting for the place to reopen after lunch. It's been pissing down here all morning. No flow in the dry river yet.

We're screwed out here this year. Rain drain is half over and no rain. Folsom lake up north is way low. Sacramento is starting to ask residents to stop watering lawns. This weather keeps up and they'll put in an ordinance to stop watering. Down here in L.A. We've been on water rationing for lawns for a few years now.

Things may change in the second half of our rain season, but it's not looking good. Mammoth ski resort can't make snow now, as their pond is dry.

I'm all for summer in winter, but this is rediculous.

Well, they just did a redesign on the Kimray web site...

Is it just me or is it hard to read?

That is pretty ugly. White text on a cyan background and grey on white is stupid. Did they hire the same folks that do the PCA national web site? I have never understood nationals site. To do ANYTHING at all on the site I have to log in. There is a little bitty tiny button that I have to click on to log in. Then it takes me to a page where I can change my address or contanct information. In the last 38 years that has changed 5 times. Most of those moves were before the 1980s.

Good FRIDAY morning folks.

Porsche-poor 01-17-2014 06:29 AM

Good morning all. Off to the sweat shop.

Can't ya turn the heater down at the office to reduce the sweat? Maybe wear shorts and t-shirt? ;)
