now that is a gopher.

Had a guy at work that was from Africa convinced the gophers in his yard were poisonous and dangerously aggressive. He deserved it. Graduated from MIT and lived in USA for over 25 years yet you could barely understand his english. Was even told the company would pay for a voice coach to help him with his accent so he could take customer's technical calls. He refused even though it would have meant a big pay increase.

that is pure evil! But you are probably right.

He was also the office crop duster.

Oh great. One of the IT guys at Kimray issued a edict today that all company iPhone, iPad, and Mac users quit surfing the internet with their Apple devices until Apple comes out with a patch that fixes a security hole. No other information except for a link to an Apple page that lists the latest software updates and NOT what they fix.
First off, the security hole was only introduced on the last update to iPhone, iPad, and MacOS. It also only effects SLL connections in Safari like when doing on-line purchasing or banking, THEN only if the hacker happens to be on your same local public network, like if you and the hacker are both on wi-fi at your local Starbucks or McDonalds. Secondly, If your iPhone and/or iPad are set to auto-update they received a patch to fix the vulnerability last Saturday. Thirdly, The vulnerability is ONLY for Safari, and then only when establishing a secure connection to make a purchase or log-in to your bank site when on the same public local network as the hacker. You don't have to quit using your Mac to surf completely, just don't do any on-line purchasing or banking when on public wi-fi unless running Firefox instead of Safari. The decision to stop all Mac internet access was made by people in the IT department that do not use or like Macs. |
Oh, and while I was writing that last post, Apple posted the update for the Macs.

I had a phone call from a man that would make the crew from Hee Haw ask "whaut dijew saya?" The guy sounded like he was the biggest hillbilly hick ever. And he wanted us to produce magic. He has some property very near the center of Garvin county but that is all it is near. He wants crazy high resolution imagery of his oil well from 2012. So all we need is a time machine to go back to 2012 and fly his property. He wants one foot topography done of the property in 2012 so he can measure the difference to today. I told him we can fly it next week but we can't fly it last week or last month or last year much less 2012.
