Americans kinda have the whole cowboy boot thing wrong. I've noticed the English have it down much better. For farm and ranch work they wear knee high rubber boots, and wear what Americans call cowboy boots as Riding Boots.

As a teen I often helped out with my friends Dad's cattle. I wore the rubber boots I had to work in our huge veggie garden, had no cowboy boots. My friend, his family, and the other cattle hands wore cowboy boots and called me a city boy for not wearing cowboy boots. But, I did notice they had a lot more trouble walking in the muck in and around the pens and corrals and spent a lot more time and trouble cleaning the muck off their cowboy boots at day's end. Just hosed my rubber boots off and was good to go. At no time did anyone actually ride a horse. In fact, don't remember even seeing a horse even though my friend's little sister was always talking about wanting one.

Didn't get a pair of cowboy boots until attended college at Oklahoma State University, the Cowboys. Didn't and don't wear them much, make my feet hurt. Have some fancy dress shoes to go with my wedding/funeral suit that rarely wear for the same reason.

That lift looks like it's going to be a lot more convenient. Be you will have less work to do on your cars because it's easier to do it. At least theta's my luck. Get a special tool to make a job easier and never need it again. But don't get it and always have things come up that it would be handy to have.

I have a 1986 El Camino with 327,000 miles an a 1985 911 with 151,000 miles.

I can think of dozens of things I want to do to either car. I doubt I will ever run out of projects. ;)

Gosh, sounds like my GTS...the projects keep piling up. Darned house stuff getting in the way.

Just getting my 911 ready for Parade will require a few projects.

Off the top of my head:

New brake pads,
Replace brake fluid,
Change transmission oil
Double check every bolt that was touched for engine removal for proper torque.
Complete wax job.
Install GPS mount and wire up fused power source.

I am sure I will come up with some more before June.

Right now I'm waiting for wheels. Most of the stuff I need done is from the top.

When I went to lunch I noticed some LARGE bird that has been eating something very orange bombed my car. As I was cleaning the crap off of my car I noticed there was bird poop on the BOTTOM side of my rear view mirror housing. That bird had amazing talent. Poop hit the hood and splattered in a long streak and some of extra large volume of poop bounced off of the hood and onto the bottom side of the mirror.

I thought pterodactyls were extinct.

I can attest that in August, Savannah is brutal stupid crazy hot. The heat index was 120+ one day.

Everything is finally starting to bloom, it's beautiful. .... but yeah, the heart during summer is killer. ... literally

It is just astonishing to think how generations of people worked and lived in houses and worked the fields in that heat. It would be just brutal. And women cooked with a freaking FIRE in the kitchen while wearing a lot of clothing. They must have been drinking water constantly. Water they had to hand pump out of the well.

I sure do love AC.

People have no idea what oppressive heat is until they spend some time in the south in the summer. I hear it all the time that I will regret moving to AZ when it gets hot I just laugh.

Well I finally figured out where I was losing the can signal on the Mercedes. The oil pressure sending unit was leaking into the weather tight connector and sending the oil into the wire harness and knocking out the signal to the trans control module. I love doing that kind of diagnostic work but not on Beth's car. She is good about all the "thinking" I do but she really wants it fixed yesterday and doesn't want to drive any of my cars, he wants to drive HER car.

I never did attend a single school that had AC.

I lived in San Marcos, TX with no AC in the house. We lived in Midwest City, Oklahoma in 1967 with no AC.
We lived in several houses in Montgomery, AL with limited AC.
I remember when I was about 14 just soaked in sweat in my bedroom doing homework. The base would not turn the electricity on for the AC until some magic date that had to arrive. It was stupid hot but at least I had an electric fan. I vividly remember promising myself someday I would own a house with central air conditioning and I would keep the house nice and cool. I was 26 when it bought my first house. One of the specifications I had for my realtor was a house with central AC. The other spec was a garage. I was not buying a house without those two things.

Is that a special survival spork?

Yup after living in Houston, I didn't mind my time in AZ last summer at all. Supposed to top 90 here this week.
