Wedding is on December 9th. Planning is going good. Getting a lot of things done. Possibly looking into live streaming it on youtube for some of our family and friends that can't make it.

Ha ha ha ha! Have fun, Andy.

Feeling so blah about work lately. Turning 40 this year doesn't upset me at all... It's the thought of working another 20 years that gets to me.

When you're young, the years crawl by at a snail's pace. When you're middle-aged, they move by faster than you think. When you're old, they're just a blur.

Life is a blur... Except when at work. Looking at my boys, life is crazy fast. Waking up for work every day, not so much. Need to find my mojo again. Need to find something I get excited about at work. The corporate world makes it very hard to stay motivated.

Less than 500 days for me...at that point, I can take it day by day and decide when's the right time to hang up my calculator and pocket protector.

My wife can retire anytime she wants. She will likely wait until the end of the year and maybe next spring just for a decent increase in her retirement check.

I just want to retire sooner than the my last boss. He took early retirement at age 92.

Sitting here in shorts & a t-shirt and about to leave early because it is 79 degrees and clear blue skies outside makes me like my job. The paycheck is nice as a bonus.

I have no doubt I will work for several years to come.

I can take off on a vacation whenever if she decides we need to go somewhere.

I would go nuts at home all day. I can spend a weekend in the garage at a time but I don't want to spend all my time in the garage. It will be nice for next year's Parade when she can take a couple of weeks for a trip to French Lick, IN.

I got home today and checked my mail.

I had an invitation from Barclay's Bank to get a Visa Black card. Normally I just shred the entire envelope. This thing was thick and quality paper. I had to open it up just to check it out. The card would be on a piece of stainless steel.

I was thinking it might be cool. Then I looked at the fee schedule. The APR can be as high as 27.24%!

The kicker is they want a meager $495 per year for the annual fee.

I don't think so. Off to the shredder.

I have two black cards... my IHG rewards and Marriott Rewards card are both black, and the Marriott card is even metal! Makes a cool sound when you drop it on the counter. . I don't pay anywhere near that much for both of them combined, and I get tons of free hotel nights out of the deal. . I've read lots about the visa black card, and everybody says it's a crock, check out the chase Sapphire card, also a metal card, better perks, and less yearly fee.

I don't pay anyone for the honor of having their card. My current visa platinum card has no annual fee and lots of other perks that are much like the visa black. I pay it off every month but the interest rate is just 8% if I wanted to carry a balance.

I don't travel enough to care about deals on hotels.

I got one of those Black Card offers this week, too. I'm not a traveling business man, so it's not worth my while.

I've only owned one credit card for the last 30 years. It's black but I don't think it signifies anything. No annual fee.... 30K limit.

There is no way the yearly fee would be repaid in savings for me. It might be cool to have a stainless steel credit card but I am not paying more than zero for the honor. Heck 99% of my purchases are with my debit card coming out of my checking account.

With all the travel I do it works out. Put in on the credit card for the points, pay it off by ETF at month end. The fee is negated by the one free room a year that you get on top of all the points. For example next week I'm going to SD. Just my airfare and rental car is nearly 800. That's a good deal of points
