When I was in the hospital with my foot I had my laptop. Even though the summer olympics was gong on with 24 hour coverage and I was very drugged up, the laptop came in handy for games and movies when I was coherent enough to get bored.

I have a garmin that I can use in the 911 and my jeep and the fiance's car already has built in gps. I only really use my phone to get on facebook and conveniently look up things, but 9 times out of 10, I am with the fiance and she has an iphone. I just feel that it is a big distraction away from life itself.

Just a while back a buddy asked me to come over to his house and help him with a computer problem. I had been to his house once before several years ago. I remembered about where but when I got into his neighborhood I remembered there were several strange turns. I just punched the button for Siri and asked for directions to my buddy place and she told me just where to turn. I likely could have found it after driving around a little but the phone sure made it simple.

The other day I needed a replacement ballast for a light in the closet. I just scanned the bar code on the old ballast. My phone pulled up the exact model and brand of that ballast. It also listed the cross reference for the equivalent ballast. I drove to the store and KNEW that I was getting the correct ballast.

The weather app are likely the most important apps I have. I have one that knows where I am and if there is any storm warning it tells me. I can track a storm with color RADAR and even watch live TV if there is a tornado warning.

The list is endless. I understand it is expensive for the data plan. Typically 30 bucks a month plus the other fees. As I mentioned, I drank the kool-aid and I am addicted.

Now back to our regularly scheduled crap.

Glen, fisheye is from the GoPro.

Pix are a mix of iPhone, DSLR, and GoPro.

GH85Carrera 04-25-2014 08:47 AM

That GoPro is a cool toy. I may borrow a friends GoPro for my Monterey trip in June.

I would rather lose my wallet than smart phone. I use it for everything! I am like Glen. Resisted but now am addicted. Recipes, restaurant directory, doing my expense report and actually keeping up with them, banking, email, pandora/music, gps, mapping my runs, keeping track off daily intake of food, pictures, video, no printing of airline tickets/checking in for flights, coupons, weather. I get stuff done waiting for my son to get out of school so when I am with them, I can be with them. I love my phone. I ain't going back either, Glen!

I love the on-line banking. I received an analog paper check in the mail as a refund the other day. It was less than a minute with my phone and the check was deposited into my account. :D

I keep several lists and notes to myself, the to-do task manager and the calendar are now indispensable.

Got the window in the Disco replaced......I want to murder whoever designed the door internals on that damn truck...

Went out for a spin to make sure I had the window frame aligned properly so as to not have any whistling at speed.

When I got home, a rattlesnake bum rushed the garage door.....I spent ten minutes hunting that bastard down and ended up throwing an axe at it...

I now am missing a chunk of concrete in my garage, but that fucher is dead! I normally don't kill them, just go the other way, but 5h!t gets real when they come into my house. ... Eben if it is just the garage

You drive a Land Rover Discovery like in the old show Wild Kingdom. You should have just captured the little snake and relocated it to a safe place. (Like the golf course)

Porsche-poor 04-25-2014 01:14 PM

More like the car of the person who broke the disco glass....

Porsche-poor 04-25-2014 01:15 PM

Hey Glen What is a good program to reduce the size of an image. Got a few 5 meg files but can't put them up here.

That would be a superb idea if it weren't for my pesky, firm policy of not playing with venomous snakes.

David, I use Photoshop for that but that is because I have been using Photoshop since before Adobe bought Photostyler and renamed it. I see you found an easier way.

Porsche-poor 04-25-2014 01:45 PM

I don't know about easier but cheaper as in free.

GH85Carrera 04-25-2014 01:56 PM

That is even better!
