I am caught up to the end of March, woo hoo.
I mention that because Glen was telling about taking a big guy on the freeway ramp and it reminded me of a guy I took for a short ride in the Cobra. He was a big guy, played fullback at Texas A&M and we were at a Superbowl party with my sister and BiL. At halftime he asked if the car had any power so I said lets go find out. At the time it had the BFG tires since I didn't know about the Goodyear Billboards at the time and it had the tall 2.73 rear end in it. As I shifted from 3rd to 4th at 110mph the back end side stepped a bit and we accelerated, pulling strong up to about 145. When we got back he was all smiles but later my brother in law stated he didn't think it was possible to scare Bubba, but he was proved wrong.

Had a huge friend proclaim "That didn't scare me" in a nervous sounding voice right after going very fast through an esse ramp. He was hanging on white knuckled and obviously lying.
The best ride I've given was a club members wife on an autocross course during the fun runs after the the timed runs. As soon as we started accelerating she started laughing hysterically. When I hit the brakes hard and went into the 4 wheel drift of the first turn she screamed in terror. As soon as was back on the gas it was back to laughing hysterically. I asked if she wanted me to slow down and she screamed at me, "Don't you dare, 'cause I am NEVER doing this again!" She alternate between screaming bloody murder and laughing maniacally the rest of the lap. After the ride she did have a huge smile on her face. Think she enjoyed it.

The couple that live in the house behind mine are friends. He saw me loading up to go to an autocross a couple of years ago. I invited him out to watch and they showed up just as we were starting the fun runs. I gave him a ride first and he actually puked after he got out of the car. He wife was totally silent during her ride. He said he will never ride in my 911 again.

On the track I have enjoyed most rides. The ride back in the late 70s around Road Atlanta in a real and for true genuine 911 RSR was very memorable. I thought he had decided to commit a murder suicide as we approached the first corner. I had never been in a real race car and I had no idea how fast they could slow down and turn a corner. The engine sound was wonderful. No doubt that forever sealed my lust for the sound of a flat 6. The same owner had a 908 there as well.

I have a cousin that has raced motocross, quads, midgets, buggies and such. Runs in the over 40 class at Crandon now. He has a track at his house that he practices on and his mother loves riding along but his brother rode once and will not ride again. Funny thing is his brother has done a ton of exhibition stuff on his motorcycle sort of like Evel Knievel but without the crashes, including the buses and racing around Road America in a wheelie.

When I worked at the BMW shop my boss and I went out in an E36M3 that I had done a pile of work to (later I made it a full blown race car) and he was driving, trying to scare me, he finally gave up and asked why I wasn't scared, I told him he could only kill me one time, gopher it.
At Porsche I had to shut up one of the Detroit loving detail guys, and my weapon of choice was a 997 turbo. He got in, buckled up and I turned off the traction control and left the parking lot broadside. I think he had a religious experience during that ride, he kept calling God. Twisty roads and that car is a slice of heaven so the guy may have been right, but he swaore he would never get into another Porsche again. He now believes

My 944 Turbo S developed a problem where is was cutting out on acceleration and in high G corners after the shop had put a new starter on. Took the mechanic for a ride to show him the problem because he could not duplicate it. Took a freeway cloverleaf at full drift. Just as we were exiting to merge into traffic it cut out. The abrupt change in power in a full drift caused the car to move towards traffic 2 foot. Of course I had planned for this and there was plenty of room. It frightened the bejesus out of my mechanic. On the way back I did some hard accelerations and it cut out again. Again very abrupt going from full throttle to no power back to full throttle. Very unnerving. He said he would never ride with me again.
He did fix the ground strap on the engine that he had inadvertently loosened while replacing the starter. That incident and the time I passed the service tech's biker group 3 times doing over 140 in my 928 collecting stragglers on a club tour, they think I am a crazy driver.

Normally I am not a good passenger (get car sick)- at least in traffic. But my autocross ride with Dave's friend a few months ago was loads of fun. I think I could have gone longer than the 70 seconds or so it was, because I could see the turns coming up and anticipate the direction of the g forces, if not the timing of the braking or the magnitude of those forces.
