My worst flight was in a C-130. I was in the bog when they called the flight, when I came out the terminal was empty, I looked out on the tarmac and the last passengers were boarding. So I grabbed my kit and ran. Forgot to grab ear plugs on the way out of the terminal. 9 hours latter =humongous headache and it took hours for the ringing to stop.

Way back before Hawaii was a state we flew to Hawaii on a C-54

Douglas C-54 Skymaster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

190 MPH facing the rear of the airplane. It was over 13 hours of flight time.

Un-pressurized at 6,000 feet. My mom was in formal dress with long gloves and high heels. Dad was in uniform of course.

I only remember it seemed to last for days on end and there was no TV or anything to do. Just try to sit there, belted in and be bored. It was torture.

Some people are so funny.

Was participating in a discussion on Rennlist with a guy that races a 928. He is a pretty good driver, but middle of the pack. He is trying to improve is brakes and braking and was asking about bias valves. I've gone thru improving braking on my 944 Turbo, and both 928s and that included not only bias valves, but also suspension settings, damper settings, and driver technique.

Me being my helpful self related my experiences and what was fastest. This guy tells me I don't know what I am talking about, don't know anything about the physics of a race car, and am not a very fast driver.

What makes it so funny is that in a month so after he has gone to a couple of event made some tests and adjustments he will come back touting he discovered what worked. Amazingly enough it was exactly what I had told him I learned from my experiences.

He currently thinks with his smooth braking technique he can out-brake threshold braking before ABS kicks in, than a properly set up car of the same model properly braking and using full ABS. And that ABS is only there as a safety net.

Joe dislike people...Joe smash!

Rick V 08-13-2014 04:07 PM

Evening Y'all.
Joe, you don't have to smash people, ya just have to learn the look of "I will gut you with a dirty hammer handle if you don't go away"
I have almost perfected the look but I work on the improvements every day

The owner of the gym was lecturing me on how I'm going to get a rotator cuff injury with my farmers walk and how the pros only do farmers walk at competition......to bad the farmers walk is considered the ideal exercise for rehabilitating a rotator cuff injury and all of the pro power lifters recommend farmers walk daily.....people suck....stupid people really suck

Neighbor teen that mows my lawn had his car break down on him today. Came by and asked if I still had the Rover for sale. Said he like it and his Dad thought it would be a good vehicle to haul his lawn stuff around instead of borrowing Dad's car. Told him sold it just yesterday.

Told about my genius when mowing yards at his age. I had a nice car for dates and running around and picked up a cheap old Ford van to use for carrying my lawn stuff around in. The benefits of it being a second vehicle and a van was it kept my date car clean AND I didn't have to load and unload my lawn equipment. It was like a mobile lawn shed.

I got it for $600 and there was a set of brand new tires in it that fit my Audi.
It was cheap because the seller had taken all the back seats out, paneled the interior and put indoor outdoor carpet in it. Just perfect for my needs.

On the ground in Liverpool. Sunrise at 35k feet was amazing.

GH85Carrera 08-14-2014 05:40 AM

Have some fun to make up for it.

Good Thursday morning folks.

I never realized Liverpool was on top of such a BIG mountain. Dang it must suck to walk around town with oxygen tanks and Arctic gear to stay warm. How deep is the snow pack?

Good Morning you group of fine gentlemen and beautiful young ladies. And may each of you have a pleasant day.

Yeah, channel surfing noticed on what's my car worth. chasing classic cars, and the auction shows like Mecam and BJ collector car prices have been going back up some this past year.

My 928 is up to $60k!
It's worth as much as the 57 T-bird my brother has that he got for $130K when the prices were up and my 928 was worth $80K. But still really good for him since it's value is up $10K over the last year. Kimray has the 57 T-bird and a 2009 Shelby Super Snake Convertible they want to sell without taking a loss on them. Think they spent over $130K when the prices were at their all time high.

Remember few months hearing Wayne on Chasing Classic Cars mention if you were in the market now was the time to buy.

Porsche-poor 08-14-2014 07:23 AM

If the bed starts spinning I am NOT responsible for any required clean up.
