On the dog space is reserved for the cat.

My other golden would sleep on my feet when I slept on the couch. Sure kept em nice and warm.

Next Monday is my freakin burpday. Because there seemed to be an at work burpday party every other day, we now get our burpday off...so...next weekend will be another long one for me.

The brake pad replacement went fine. My typical OCD and while I am in there-itis slowed the process. Overall it went smooth.

Noticed the driver's side headlight was a little fogged on the Cayenne. Went to Autozone and got one of those Mother's headlight kits. Polished, sanded, and polished, no improvement at all. Looked up price of new headlight...holey stinkin ****balls they are freakin $800 because all you can get is the whole assembly.

So, called a local high end detailer friend. He is the kind of detailer that hand washes because the recycled water at car washes scratch the paint surface, washes all his towels and rags in special soap that doesn't have phosphorus or fabric softeners because those get left in the cloth and scratch the paint, AND calls what most detail shops do vandalism. He says he can sand and polish the fogging out of my headlight.

Dropped by his place yesterday and he worked on the headlight for a couple hours with a buffer and several various grits of polishing compounds and buffer pads. It took a long time because he could only work on small sections few seconds at a time before the headlight got very hot. It looks much much better but there is still just a little hazing when the light is on. Said he would continue to work on it.

Chatted while watching him work, also got some fresh from the freezer home made ice cream. Found out he is needing some new business cards and does not have a web site. Cool! That's the kind of stuff I enjoy doing. Looked at some of the web sites for guys doing the same kind of paint restoration/detailing he does. These guys charge anywhere from $600 for a basic detail to $6000 depending on the level of what the car needs! Made a deal and he is going to detail out the Cayenne AND the 928 for doing a web site for him.

Whata ya think of the card I came up with?

Most of Kevin's clients are the people in OKC with Ferarri's, Lamborginis, Mercedes, Porsches, mostly special or high dollar cars. Kevin has been doing high end detailing since he was 16 and he is my age. If he is out and about and sees a cool car he doesn't know, he follows it, approaches them, tells them what he does and gives them one of his cards. The card need to look good enough they will look at the web site and the web site needs to convince them they need to have him do their car(s).

When I had my guards red 928 GT I had him detail it. His house is a block down the street you turn on. When I turned the corner to pick up my car it was so shiny red it immediately go my attention. The next morning I drove it downtown (about 10 miles) and got pulled over twice even though I was not doing anything to warrant it.

The first officer was a highway patrol and said I had aggressively changed lanes. Told him that was interesting as I had only gotten on the hwy 2 miles back and had not changed from being in the farthest right lane since getting on. He "let me go with a verbal warning"

The second officer was a local motorcycle cop and pulled me over just 4 miles farther down the same highway. He gave me the same BS reason, I had aggressively changed lanes. Gave him the same explanation that I had not changed lanes since getting on the highway, and had just gotten false accused of changing lanes a few miles earlier. He also "let me go with a warning."

I figured the car was just so shiney red it commanded their attention and they just couldn't resist pulling it over.

He recently did a guys corvette and it won some kind of prize at a corvette gathering. He got comments from several other owners and the event chair. He said it was just his basic detail and he could make the paint pop a lot more than he did.

Most of the other detailers on his level have a badge style logo, but they also have a company name like reflections, esoteric, or detail designs instead of a persons name. He has always used just his name and wants to continue as he has a great reputation.

Is it the Bel Aire style script font?

Ya. That font just screams '50s. Seems overused in the classic car seem.

I do like the design, just needs a better typeface

Also, see if you can find a place that will make the cards on a Matte black stock, with glossy text, possibly even embossed. Cards will cost more, but will have an over the top wow factor.

Since he does paint detail the black of the card and the highlight spot represent glossy paint. So was planning the whole card be glossy.

Would be interesting to emboss the chromed part.

Muscle cannot turn into to fat anymore than it can turn to bone.
