Make sure she is clear when you tell her you need to stop for some jerky.

I'm going to make sure I have some on board, it may work, it may not, but I like jerky so it will be good either way

My mother in law can go just over an hour on car trips. My brother in law, her youngest son, will have to pee three times during a movie. If he were on a car trip with me he would have to use a little john as I am not stopping every 20-30 minutes. My wife said on road trips they spent more time waiting for him to pee than anything else.

We made homemade venison jerky for the first time this year. It actually turned out pretty good. Both kids love it for snacks.

Rick, have a good trip. I hope it proves fruitful.

Beth can make it almost two hundred miles when we are driving Peggy, I expect with the higher speeds of one of the cars, more than likely the Mercedes if she goes, then I am hoping for two hundred miles between, and that is okay, lets me stretch my legs

My wife likes the Love's travel centers. They do have large clean bathrooms and good gas and a large snack and drink section. Most of them have a restaurant attached as well.

They are good stops.

As long as they have a quiet corner somewhere, when I cannonball I sleep in the car. I just get a couple of hours, grab some coffee splash some water on my face and back to gather more bugs on the grill

I am just too old to push real hard. 12 hours of driving is enough for me. I find a motel room and start again in the morning. I have done 14 hours in a day and that was more than enough.

Back in my much younger days I left Montgomery, Al at 4:00 AM and drove to Atlanta. I spent the entire day photographing a industrial plant that built wiring harnesses for cars. They started with huge coils of copper, made the wire and made the entire harness. It was hot and I humped my butt all day. Then I finished that and jumped in the 914 and drove to Daytona Beach, FL. I was one whipped dude when I finally arrived very late at night. I remember it was after midnight. And all of that was in the bad old days of the 55 MPH speed limit.

Why stop to sleep, you can sleep while she drives!

Last run I did like this was the one I made to the UP of Michigan, twenty four hundred miles round trip towed a car on a dolly there, and was in Peggy. I did the entire thing in 40 hours and slept for a total of ten. I am figuring to have an average speed of above 20mhp better so given the same time frame this trip will be easy, the one back is going to be a killer since I know I am going to be tired from the starting line

At least Peggy has a few options for sleep if you have an open bed and a bench seat. The Merc, being more comfy, might be easy to fall asleep before you get stopped.

Some of those in the route should chime in to tell you where the best coffee is. The anti-starbucks places.

Beth and I have a sleeping arrangement in Peggy. I put her in first gear so thee stick is against the dash board, then I put the transfer case in 4low so the stick is against the seat. I lean back against the door and put my feet across the trans hump and onto the pass side. This leaves beth more room than she needs to lay across the bench seat. It works well. We have gotten caught in some bad storms while camping and abandoned the tent for the cab of Peggy.

What us trying to catch? You are going to want some big surf rods and reels at least.

Is there a guide ther? Hire a guide for the morning. They will show you the spots, and the hot tackle of the week so you can get your setup right.

Very true, you don't want to use dynamite in a strong current, it is had to get your placement correct

I know someone that actually did use 1/4 stick to go fishing back in the 50s. They had a '49 Mercury for a getaway car. The property was not impressed but they had gathered a good number of fish before he came after them.

You'll think I'm nuts, but I will be using heavy freshwater tackle. Spent a lot of time angling thus far in life, love the fight on the smallest tackle possible.

Problem is, idk wtf is in the water, perhaps I'll treat myself to a guide
