Dang Max, that is a light car. That was the fun of my old 914. It was right 2,000 lbs. no power but great fun to drive.

Some dumbass just got his year ruined... Went out to take out the recycling and the popo had a guy walking the line at the end of our block. Just looked out and a rollback is loading up his pickup... OOPS!

Sid, your posts made a lot more sense when you were an Okie. You've been in the land of OddJobUno too long for me to follow you.

Sitting in the cell phone parking area at DCA waiting for the missus to get back from her business trip. She was supposed to be home 6 1/2 hours ago. Damn connection at O'Hare.

Remember back in the early 90's I had a backdoor login to the saber system that at that time scheduled all the airlines.

My mom was supposed to come in on a flight from Texas. She wasn't on it. Call my sister and she got on the plane in Texas. Went home, got on my computer, dialed up and logged into the saber net. Did a flight search for Mom's name and found they had put her on a different plane in Houston with a big layover and got the arrival time here in OKC. Waited and hour then went and picked her up.

What I thought was really weird was her ticket info was for the plane she was originally on and it came from Houston to OKC. Yet they somehow made her get off that plane and she had to wait two hours and get on another plane coming to OKC. And the layover was on the saber system, but not on her ticket or flight info. Evidently she got bumped to a later flight for somebody.

Kinda scary that I could lookup any person flying and find when and where they would be. That backdoor login is no longer there.

Somebody got a DUI on our street tonight Jim! Didn't recognize the vehicle though, so not one of my neighbors.

Jim Richards 04-09-2015 09:50 PM

Oh, now I follow ya. :)

Jim Richards 04-09-2015 09:54 PM

Her flight just landed. Only about 7 hours overdue. Thanks United.

Was lucky last time I picked someone up at the airport. They were walking out of the terminal as I drove up. Was in the 928 and just reved the motor to get his attention. Zero wait time for bofus.

Side note: at OKC airport the arrival pickup is on the lower level, the 928 rev sounded GREAT!

Jim, you are enough of a geek to know about about FlightAware. Get it!

Download the app to your phone or use the web site. Punch in the flight number and airline of any flight and it tracks where that airplane is, and the status. It shows an estimated time of arrival. If it is in the air it shows how fast it is moving. It give all the specs on that airplane. Model, serial number and such.

You can sit at home and wait for it to be on the way to your airport. Subtract your travel time to the airport and you can arrive at the airport just when she is landing.

It is one on the many apps that makes a smartphone worth every penny of the money.

It is always cool to see all the aircraft in the sky at any moment.

Hey wait a minute. You are in Connecticut. I am pretty sure that is a Yankee state. I am not sure you are allowed to use Y'all.

Do you know the plural of Y'all without using Google?

Next thing you will be trying to using the phrase "Bless their heart"

911SauCy 04-10-2015 05:35 AM

Shugah, please..

Jim Richards 04-10-2015 05:45 AM

Morning y'all.

Glen, I have used FlightAware before. Unfortunately, I didn't know what airline or flight she was on until she landed.

GH85Carrera 04-10-2015 05:45 AM

OK, do you know what Okra is? Ever had it?
I had some for lunch yesterday.

Jim Richards 04-10-2015 05:46 AM

I'm not a fan of okra. Blech.

Ah, that makes a difference. That is required information for me when asked to pick up anyone at the airport. They can tell me the original ETA but I am going to check it out. Trust but verify!

Last summer in San Jose my wife's plane had a tailwind and they came in 30 minutes early. I pulled up just as she stepped outside.
