From my cocerlayshunz, I've gotten 230lbs out of the car (not including that I NEVER have the roof on) which is pretty dang good considering I wont consider glass or cf panels or even glass bumpers.

I've read all different numbers on production curb weight but I 'm hoping it's somewhere between 2350-2450?

During my Dual Khuel AC upgrade it added two condensers the AC works well enough to drive to Savanna, GA in August or go through Needles, CA in summertime and not sweat.

The entire suspension has new rubber bushings and new Bilstien shocks. The auto door locks and the power seats work. I almost never adjust the seats once I get them set, why mess with them.

Right now the high pressure headlight washers pump leaks real bad if used. I have the replacement but it is a real chore to replace and so what is a little fluid leaks on the ground. The windshield washers have to work right or it is a challenge to drive on the highway. The trip to Salt Lake City had a day of light rain enough to get the road all wet and then the spray from other vehicles was crazy.

The engine was rebuilt a year ago and the transmission and clutch were freshened up and 5th gear was changed to a different ratio to lower the RPM 500 to 600 RPM over stock.

I will have owned it 20 years in August this year.

IIRC the roof is around 25lbs? so a total 250 lost in normal drive mode.

The annoying thing is there's a very noticeable difference when I have a passenger...booo

Got my hair cut today. Haven't gotten it cut in 4 years. She said she would do it for free if I let her shave my head and leave the beard.

Mine came in at almost 2,741 lbs during the corner balance. With the added AC components and the added fan for the oil cooler it just adds up. I fully understand light wight is great, but I HAVE to have AC in these parts. If I am gonna have AC it might as well be good AC.

Heck, I even added floor mats. Even more mass.

I have all the blowers for the heat as well.

Good to know I have lived. Actually I thing the dog food was the worst even though real dog food doesn't have that much flavor.

Didn't try the dog food one but my son did. He said it wasn't bad. Hmmmmmm. dog food IS cheaper than people food...and he seems to like it..

The odometer in the 944 has been broken most of the time I have owned the car! It broke shortly after we bought it, I fixed it, and it promptly broke again! When I opened it up, there were markings on the cluster that it had been fixed at least once before.

944s are notorious for broken gears, so I figure wth. When I buy a car that old I don't really look at miles. If the condition is good, miles don't mean a whole helluva lot to me. The bug has either 58k, 158k, 258k.... There is really no way of knowing. Who gives a rats ass really?

I changed the speedometer completely on El Camino. It came with a stupid idiotic ridiculous 85 MPH speedometer with a GIANT RED 55 MPH called out. And it did not have a trip odometer.

I bought a used one from a junkyard, sent it in and had them convert it to a 115 MPH limit and no hint that 55 MPH was different from any other speed. I had them set it to be the correct mileage at the time.

After 335,000 miles and showing just 35,000 miles it really does not matter. I have no intention of selling it.

Interesting last hour at work, my boss decided ot was time to pick on Rickie about his choice of cars, yeah that was fun, it went down hill fast when I asked him to show me a running, solid, non leaking 18 year old Saab, then I asked him which one on the lot he was willing to put the title up for to race me, he is a fun guy to work for.

Okay, the track racers say I'm crazy...

Had an 88 944 Turbo S. Learned to autocross in it and updated the suspension over 3 years. 31mm rear torsion bars, 180-410 porsche motorsport front springs, Weltmeister front and rear adjustable anti sway bars, and yellow konis with rebound adj. And very well setup for 4 wheel drifting from turn-in to corner exit. There were a couple of mods to the engine and it dynoed 280 rwhp.

Driving it at our local PCA autocrosses I had become very adept at coming into the turns setting the immediately into a 4 wheel drift pointing at the apex. The getting back in the throttle just enough (had to manage to turbo) to maintain the 4 wheel drift thru and throttle steer thru the apex, and add enough throttle to increase speed just enough to carry the 4 wheel drift out of the turn until I was pointing down the straight at full throttle.

First thing the racers tell me I don't know what I'm talking about...

Once the car was setup I noticed on transistion (turn-in) the car would kind of rock like a table with a short leg and it would upset the car and cause it to go into a skid instead of a balanced 4 wheel drift. I felt it was lowering my corner entry speed. Corner balanced the car and found one of the front corners was 1/32" low. Balancing took 2 seconds of my autocross lap times.

Second...

Same car well setup set FTD. Took a 300lb person for a lap. Noticed while lapping with the extra 300 lbs in the car that my top speed at the end of the longest straight was 10 mph slower when I hit my braking zone. Found someone had left the timer on and with the 300 lb person in the car and slower top speed I had matched my FTD.

My premise is that autocrossing at speeds below 100mph the aerodynamics of a car does not effect corner speed as much as tire grip and the extra weight in my car increase the load on tire enough to provide more grip increasing my corner speeds to make up for the slower acceleration and braking of the extra 300 lbs.

After that I quit taking things out of my car to make it lighter for autocrossing.

This is a big thing. My brother in law is very attached to his long hair...

I'm sure some clown will give us hell about it...

My odo quit working on the Audi I had in college.
Ended up supergluing my hand to the odo.
Went to some nearby apartments and asked if I could use some fingernail polish remover.
Got my hand loose without losing any skin, fixed my odo, and made friends with some neighbor womens.

Score!

This is with me in the car and 1/2 tank of fuel.
