Morning all.
Woken early this morning to the pleasant sounds of a pooch trying to open the screen door to get away from the approaching electrical storm. It was quite a noisy activity without the appropriate gear to achieve her task. Oh well, shaz wanted to be up early to watch the Oz/Poms play netball this morning. I think I'll go cook some cackle berries on toast. Oh, and I've never been fired from a job either - walked away from a couple of slave labour encounters though. |
I have never written up a resume and I have only gone looking for one job, ever.
My first job I quit when I asked for $12,000 per year and he said he could not pay that much. 12K then is like 47K now. I quit him after my one week notice. On Saturday morning early I drove to Oklahoma (No AC in 100 degree heat) 900 miles to grandma's house. I got the Sunday paper, found two possible jobs and on Monday the 3rd I went to the first place. I was hired by 9:00 AM but I told him I could not start until the next Monday. The 4th I spent with my relatives up in OK. The 5th I drove 900 miles back to Alabama, loaded up everything I owned into a small U-haul trailer and hooked it to the 914. On the 7th drove 900 miles back and moved into a $90 per month furnished dump. I used all my liquid funds for utility deposits and moving costs. I stared on Monday morning. 4 business days unemployed. Starting salary, 12K. |

Are you still living on the island or did the tourists drive you away? |
I had to fill up the Elky this afternoon. $1.59 per gallon for 100% real gas. Wow that is cheap. I can remember pumping under $1 per gallon into the Elky but that was when I first got the Elky.

So if you have CarPlay and say..."Do you know the way to San Jose?" Does it give you a map or play the song?

Unless we have (yet another) change in plans, retirement should start 70 days after today. http://www.gifmania.co.uk/Walt-Disne...oons-83872.gif

Wow, on the retirement countdown, how cool ! I still have 9.5 years.

It goes fast if you're busy with work and life. Once you start thinking about it, time seems to slow a bit.

Congrats Jim.
Good foggy morning everyone. Strange fog today. It is 33 degrees so almost frog or freezing fog. My commute takes me down a road through mostly farm fields and mostly wooded area and just a few houses. There is a valley and as I drove along I cam out UNDER the fog, then back up the hill on the other side back into the fog. I have never seen that distinct of a bottom layer of fog. |
Thanks Glen. I saw this kind of thing with clouds on a mountain top. Really freakin' eerie.
We had a little snow last night...nothing special. We're supposed to get really whacked tomorrow afternoon and on into the weekend. Why can't this happen during the work week? |
Joe, what about your four legged nutball?
Jim, just think about the lack of snow in your other residence and how soon you will be there. Glen, I didn't think OK had enough elevation change to go above or under cloud layers. |

Morning all. Retirement? What is that?

There are many hills in my part of the city. They are only 60 or 70 feet tall and no big deal unless it is icy or you are on a bicycle. Nothing like Colorado rockies but more than Eastern Colorado. |

And 58 days 13 hours 29 minuts and 20 seconds until Spring!

Sorry, I'm confused Joe, Deployment AND red tape? Are you in the service?
Have a friend have lost contact with over the years. He was in special forces, had a cover job working as a civilian contractor at the local airforce base. He was often gone to "seminars' that lasted for a month or two. He was the communications guy. Showed me a device a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes that would laser spot a target that he said a missile would hit within 3 ft of. This was in the mid 80's. Last I heard he had a software company. |
