Hoppy Easter

Just one thin mint

RKDinOKC 03-27-2016 07:28 AM

Pepper woke me up this morning by licking my hand then as I roused saying "I want out." Had to get up and let her out for that. As we headed for the door with her happily prancing along I said good morning and she said it back.

Finally got to talk to my Farmers agent Thursday.

As always I talked about Pepper learning to talk and saying I want out. She said she would just like her dog to go in one area of her yard. Said her dog sits at the door, she lets it out, it wonders around does it's thing, then wants right back in. Told her that was perfect. Put the dogs leash on and take it out on leash when it goes to the door to potty. Take it to the area she wants it to use and give a command. I use "Do your stuff." Then praise the dog verbally as it is doing it, and petting after. Then bring it back in, and praise it while she is taking the leash off. She said she would try it.

She called me late yesterday evening and she wanted to tell me it was working. She has been putting the leash on and leading the dog where she wanted it to go and it has been going where she wants. Said she was afraid the dog would fight the leash, but for some reason it didn't. Told her the dog was probably so excited she was going out too that it wanted to stay close to her. Said to just make sure it's not an area of the yard they play fetch in or anything like that and to keep it up for a while. Told her it helps to play with the dog in the parts of the yard she doesn't want the dog to use. Said to start giving the command as she is putting the leash on to take the dog out. After a while she will be able to use the command when she lets it out and the dog will go where she had trained it without the leash.

Said later if she wanted to take the dog somewhere she could take it out and give the command and the dog will go if it needs to, then she can take it somewhere without worrying about it having to go, and yes just like kids.

Wished you could make a comfortable living just helping people train their dogs without having a TV show or something like the Dog Whisperer.

I like the training called Command Performance. Shows you how to train a dog to be able to take it anywhere without a leash.

Due to family issues I'm not sure how many people will be here for Easter. Cooking two hams just to be sure! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1459095315.jpg

Mmmmmmmm. :D

RKDinOKC 03-27-2016 02:00 PM

Yep, 30 people. Had both Ham AND Turkey. Pepper got the Ham bones. No pies today, just ice cream.

The best at Fuzzy Bunny got 9. How many Peeps you can fit in your mouth and still say Fuzzy Bunny.
Surprised it didn't cause an incident being an after dinner activity.

I think I'm going to have some minestrone soup and sourdough bread. We're beat from packing and running stuff to the donation center. Still more to do, but there's light at the end of the tunnel.

That's when pizza delivery happens around here.

Besides, I thought Pizza and Beer gave some kind of special superpower energy for moving.

That's for the final push, Friday/Saturday. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

morning,...according to the clock, but it's still dark outside.

GH85Carrera 03-28-2016 05:17 AM

Morning all.

Hey Jim, the last Monday ever for you right? Then it is Saturday every day.

I figure if I can beat my old boss and just retire at 82 instead of 92 that is beating him by a decade! I better get another cup of coffee or I will end up taking a nap.

After about a month being retired my college house mate's Dad went back to work. He retired as a food broker representing Heinz. He got a job at the local grocery store's bakery. When I asked him about it he said it wasn't because they needed money, it was because his wife wanted him out of the house for at least part of the day. He was driving her crazy.

My house mate grew up around the corner from me. His Dad had a 250 Yamaha he rode a lot and took immaculate care of. When his Dad was home all I remember ever seeing hime do was sitting in his chair smoking a pipe watching TV or reading the paper.

RKDinOKC 03-28-2016 06:22 AM

My friend/house mate's parents would move all the furniture out of their formal living room and let us take it over. 4 of us would put together all our HO slot car track and make a huge track making sure each lane got the same number of inside and outside lanes on all the different radius curves. Each person tested mixing parts from the cars mixing them to get the fastest car. I had a Z28 body that would outrun everyone because it would use the guard rails to keep from flying off the track on outside lanes at full speed.

His Dad would take him and I out to a bridge on the county line with our 22's. And provided a couple cases of Heinz ketchup bottles to use for target practice. His Dad would then leave and come back in a couple of hours. We called it Plinking. That's were I learned to throw a coin in the air and shoot it with my 22 rifle. For a couple of teenagers we were very aware of proper gun safety.

That makes me want to burn some of my vacation days.

Took a week off to paint my house one year. Rained the whole week. Instead of painting I stripped the paint off of and stained my front door.

Porsche-poor 03-28-2016 07:08 AM

morning all. burning vacation days I'll be doing that next week. This week its attempt to look busy and care.

RKDinOKC 03-28-2016 07:15 AM

Is that actually required?

GH85Carrera 03-28-2016 07:26 AM

At my old job there were a few times that I had all the processors working 100% and all the employees busy doing their production. I was the production manager and ran the computer graphics department. Suddenly I had nothing to do and just had to look busy or the production crew got all pissy that I was making them work and I was goofing off. I would grab a clipboard and walk around making useless notes and do a lot of walking from my office to the production area.

It is nice that here when we get caught up we just surf the web.

Porsche-poor 03-28-2016 09:07 AM

Its either look busy, be busy or do training.
