Evidently, one of our engineers needed to read this book before today, unfortunately he was walked out this morning for various reasons of which I can't go into online.

See Glen, there is a NEED!

RKDinOKC 04-22-2016 10:52 AM

Thought there was already a book "How to succeed in business without really trying."

Need one for how to choose a candidate when they all suck.

RKDinOKC 04-22-2016 11:44 AM

Hey Glen, did you see where Porsche has gotten some of the tyre manufactures to release modern tires in the original tire sizes to fit the classics like 15" fuchs? They even have the N ratings.

Then you choose the least expensive and dumbest so when you fire them they dont know any different.

Ya'll have a good weekend.

Yea, I saw that list. If you click on the link it goes to a web page in German. My German reading talents are rather poor. I could not find any listing for 15 inch. 7&8s. It would be tire that is the OEM size which one size skinnier than the old 15s I had and they are the Pirelli P-600s which are OK but not great tires and EXPENSIVE for 15 inch tires.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?tireIndex=0&autoMake=Porsche &autoYear=1985&autoModel=911+Carrera+Coupe&autoMod Clar=&frontWidth=195%2F&frontRatio=65&frontDiamete r=15&frontSortCode=38050&rearWidth=215%2F&rearRati o=60&rearDiameter=15&rearSortCode=39050

I thought about them, but I was ready for the 17s.

Yep looked like most of the older stuff is Pirelli.

RKDinOKC 04-22-2016 03:25 PM

So...If you do a bunch of work before lunch and get tired, then have lunch go do a bunch more of the same tiring work...Are you retired? Or is your car retired when you replace the old tires? And why does AARP keep trying to get me to join them? And when do I get to take another pain pill?

Porsche-poor 04-22-2016 03:33 PM

one would hope soon

Jim Richards 04-22-2016 08:26 PM

I drove my 964 today. That's something I haven't done since last fall. All smiles!

RKDinOKC 04-22-2016 09:47 PM

Don't remember just how it came up, before the surgery told the eye surgeon about driving my 928 160 on the turnpike. When he told me my recovery restrictions he specifically added that I was to NOT drive 160.

Jim Richards 04-22-2016 10:07 PM

So drive 170.

You've been there this long and just got around to that?

My question as well.
Maybe the movers had it blocked in with moving boxes......yeah that's it right?

RKDinOKC 04-23-2016 05:21 AM

Good morning.

I must say that after a couple days of pain killer induced sleep I feel pretty good. Now if the eyeball would just stop hurting.

Jim, it is your mission to find all the fun ramps, curves, and underpasses near the new home.

When I had my 914 there was a Parking Garage that was somehow some kind of short cut almost anywhere I went. The 914 was 2.0 liter with Monza exhaust, then later Burst, even for a 914 it sounded great!

Am very curious how the GTS will sound with tuned headers, custom tuned x-pipe, sport cats, resonators and no muffler. It should sound AWESOME! Of course, by now any motor sounds at all would me awesome!

GH85Carrera 04-23-2016 08:06 AM

Mrs Carrera asked her mom what she wants for Mother's Day. Her reply was for Mrs Carrera to come plant some flowers in the flower bed. So I get to drive 100 miles each way to watch her dig holes and plant flowers. Whoo hoooo party time, I mean nap time. Kinda boring stuff to watch.

RKDinOKC 04-23-2016 08:12 AM

You mean you aren't going to help dig the holes?

All that exhaust work, you need an ECU flash with it! ;)

RKDinOKC 04-23-2016 09:53 AM

Thanks, but don't need an ECU flash. It's got programable chips in place of the stock chips for both ECU and DME, and software that runs on a laptop and an interface that connects thru the stock diagnostics port. You can use the Wideband 02 and knock sensors to real-time auto tune the programable chips. Or you can log everything and download the maps auto tune, tweak them with nice graphical maps then upload them back. Also lets you set it for different injector sizes, red line cutoff, idle rpm, when wot map kicks in, timing advance parameters, basically anything that can be set on the cars computer. It is called the Shark Tuner. Pretty cool for a 94 car.

The Shark Tuner is made by a guy name John Speake in England. Jim Corenman is his USA rep and has been tuning and tweaking 928s for a long time. Jim sent me the drawings and specs for the x-pipe they developed that gets the best results for my engine, cams, and headers. Even has a base map for my upgrades to start tuning from. They are telling me we should get 380 to 400 rwhp. Not bad for an NA car that was 350 at the crank stock. Guy the just did the cams like I have got 360 rwhp every thing else stock.

Mustang dyno time would speed up the tuning process tons though. And lets you run it thru it's paces without the risk of tickets.

Got the Shark Tuner when I put the different cams in after the driver's side valves crashed from a cam breaking. The guys putting on superchargers use the Shark Tuner also. There is a stock octane switch the supercharger guys use for a valet mode that changes maps so they can change the throttle map, timing, and redline to make the car a dog without hurting anything. Because once it's tuned it tuned some guys just get the chips and several share the cost of the Shark Tuner interface and software.

Nope. The holes are little and it is in a flower bed with soft peat moss and real dirt. Super easy to dig. I have been cleaning up the computer. She hit the Win10 upgrade button so now I gotta tweak it to make 10 do what I want.
