that is a useless post without pictures, schumi.

porsche4life 10-10-2010 07:38 PM

Pics or it didn't happen!

I had fun at the autocross, but I had a few problems, more about those later.

Schumi 10-10-2010 07:48 PM

Dave took all the pics. I didn't take a camera. I was too busy driving some of the best roads I've been on..

That morning run was such a desolate road... I think I could probably trailer a sports racer out there, throw on a helmet, and do a hillclimb test and tune without anyone caring

I don't feel like reposting... Here's the thread with pix...

Schumi and his Boxster.

Mike I thought you didn't worry about bad tires? I mean those were some scary looking ones on your red 924S....

Schumi 10-10-2010 09:48 PM

The 924S' tires were bad due to age.

The Boxster's tires are bad due to pushing them way past their operating temperature, on multiple occasions.

Schumi 10-10-2010 09:50 PM

Check out the weirdness the camera did with my rear wheel in that picture...

porsche4life 10-10-2010 09:50 PM

Good point...

Speaking of 924s's... Dad and I were discussing borrowing a rotisserie from a friend of his.... Would be way easier to deundercoat and paint the car on a rotisserie...

porsche4life 10-10-2010 09:51 PM

Sweet new twists!

Schumi 10-10-2010 09:55 PM

Rotisserie is the way to go- doesn't even have to be a big one as once the rear suspension is off that thing, the tub weights nothing.

When you strip the undercoat off, be sure to bag it up and weigh it all- there are a lot of people who would really like to know some real numbers on what it weighs in at.

porsche4life 10-10-2010 09:57 PM

Will do. I think I am going to try the dry ice method a buddy of dads told us about.... Basically throw dry ice in the floor pan, let it cool the undercoat, and then knock the undercoat right off.

Schumi 10-10-2010 10:08 PM

I've done that method- not the easiest mind you. I had better luck with chemicals and heat guns, etc. I think a lot of dry ice is needed to make it work- lots and lots.

I actually tried to get liquid nitrogen from a chemistry lab to pour over the whole floor pan... I think that would work just as good but in a quarter the time.

I was meaning to point that out to you :D You might want to get that rim checked out.

iPhone weirdness Does it to the props of planes too.

porsche4life 10-10-2010 10:09 PM

hmm... Liquid nitrogen... I bet one of the oilfield supply houses would have some... They use it for something on rigs...

That is weird, looks like it's missing a spoke

Morning duderinos,
Monday is already here, back at the office.
Promised myself I am going to speed things up on the engine and tranny rebuild...
If I'm not on the road by next spring, I'm gonna hurt myself!

Thinking of maybe buying a motorbike too. Not too sure of it though. Need to pump more cash in the 911 first.

I have an older version of that bike wearing knobby tires. They are great fun!

slodave 10-10-2010 10:20 PM

Porsche designed it that way. You get a better view of the red calipers.
