looks like there might be some blocking going on with the new company. I'm not getting notifications that posts have been made to the thread. I know that they have been blocking all the entertainment sites.

I haven't been getting them, either. We had this issue a few weeks ago and it was due to the website.

Unless that's a used up Cub, that is a reasonable price.

I asked but he was drunkenly throwing darts and didnt respond. I'm assuming Cessna or similar. Another place was quoting me 150wet with instructor so it's not bad at all. He's moving to captain on Skywest soon, so he's not totally clueless. ;)

Fingers crossed for you Richard!

Oh Haha 06-13-2016 07:18 PM

Got a call from the guy working at my neighbor's place this morning asking if I could help tear up the wood floor. I worked for about 3 hours with a pry bar pulling the planks up. He left about an hour in to run some errands. He wasn't back before I had to leave to help at school. Oh well.

The lady designed the new kitchen herself and is going to come look at ours and draw up some plans for the new cabinets she gave us. Her cabinet guy will then give us a quote. I am not even going to attempt the project as it's more than I can do with confidence.

While I was waiting for the kids to be dismissed a semi arrived with a new fridge for the school but nobody there could figure out how to get it in the building. I jumped in and took charge and with help from the driver we moved it into place.

The school staff mentioned something about me being a "super volunteer". I just can't stand by and watch when something needs to be done and I can help. I'm trying to instill that mentality into my kids. My daughter gets it, my son doesn't.

That's how I am. We have a few guys at work who go out of their way to be dicks to new guys, I've only been there a few months, but I'll jump in and help whenever I can.

No sense not helping if you've got the ability!

We made it to Seahawk's place yesterday. What a super nice guy and his wife and mine hit it off like good friends. He has a fantastic farm, the sons are great and he has a lot of cool dogs.

We talked a lot and I learned a lot about the area.

We spent more time at Manassas and blew off driving into downtown Baltimore and fighting the traffic. Today is a long day and we are headed to Danbury, CT.

The other photo is the old rock bridge where some of the first shots were fired in the civil war. It started Manassas battle one and two. The sight is very much the same and the time of the battle. It is sobering to think so many men died in those battles.

Here a 160hp PA-24 is $135 wet sans instructor.

Porsche-poor 06-14-2016 06:59 AM

morning all. still no notifications.

RKDinOKC 06-14-2016 07:12 AM

Had a friend with wife and 4 kids from Kentucky. He joined a local club and flew enough to keep is IFR rating up. A couple of times a year he used a club piper cherokee to fly his family to Kentucky and back for vacations to visit family. He said it was much cheaper all total than driving or flying commercially. And compared to driving they could make the trip in one day so they got to spend more time with their family.

RKDinOKC 06-14-2016 07:49 AM

I am scared. I just disabled one of the IT guys that was the PC server manager and managed all the cell phone accounts. He was my boss before he stepped down and they hired someone to replace him as network manager. They said they would be letting 120 people go.

Porsche-poor 06-14-2016 07:55 AM

as long as they are asking you to do the "disable" I think you are ok.

flipper35 06-14-2016 09:10 AM

Richard, it sounds like some of the upper IT management could stand to go as it sounds like they don't do anything to help the company. They do, however, seem to like to spend like a fortune 10 company on stuff that fits all the current buzzwords regardless of how much sense it makes for your company.

Like a car guy adding twin turbos, a supercharger, dual quads, fuel injection, high compression, oh wait this isn't working but it is all the high performance stuff.

Jim Richards 06-14-2016 09:29 AM

Morning, y'all. Hey Richard, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. One thing I really disliked about being an engineer was that there really never seemed to be any stability in the workplace. Anyway, best wishes to you!

RKDinOKC 06-14-2016 01:03 PM

They just announced all the layoffs are done. Nobody came to visit me and I wasn't asked to come in.

It is a LOT of work for me to properly disable someone set them up so their supervisors can access their files and email, and set a auto-reply that they are gone to contact their supervisor.

Porsche-poor 06-14-2016 01:04 PM

good deal. they may be starting that crap here now.

RKDinOKC 06-14-2016 01:08 PM

They are letting a lot of people go that have been there as long as I have. Does not seem like they are honoring seniority at all. My opinion is that does not do much for loyalty.

GH85Carrera 06-14-2016 01:25 PM

Well, we made it to Danbury, CT. That is our stop for tonight.

We made it a travel day. We took the advice of Seahawk and took the scenic drive up to Annapolis, then over to the New Jersey turnpike raceway. That connected to the Pennsylvania raceway and right into NYC and Manhattan. We saw the Empire State Building and the new World Trade Center on the horizon. One hour from NYC is Danbury.

flipper35 06-14-2016 01:26 PM

Maybe it is performance based, but more likely who do they pay too much for what they do thing.

GH85Carrera 06-14-2016 01:55 PM

Ok, either I had some really fantastic and astonishingly good planning skills, or we got super lucky, (I feel sure the former) this place is great.

The hotel is very nice. We have a nice suite with two rooms. One living room and a bedroom down the hall with the bathroom in the middle. This place has a PARKING GARAGE :) :).

It get better. There is a dang liquor store downstairs. :) :) :).

The grocery store is next door. And across the street is a jewelry store. Her watch died the other day. It was a watch I gave her 24 years ago. It is terminal. She bought a new watch. The owner of the store is a Porsche owner. He has two 911s.

Time to go get some beer!
