Morning all.
The TV news stations flew around and managed to find a few low spots of some roads and of course complete idiots driving into the high water. I am sure some morons have totaled their car with water damage. The water all drained away in short order after the rain stopped. With a 1000 square mile metro area the TV stations can always find some fool doing something foolish and feature it on the TV news. Richard, driving home with just one eye working would be a challenge on a dry and sunny day. No doubt heavy rain made it more challenging. |
morning all. late start with a blood draw after fasting. eating now and grumpy as hell.
Glen I just kidding you about the car. |
I was chatting with a guy that used to work at a place in Cushing, OK. The business is ESECO. The made light analyzers and densitometers for the photo industry. We had a bunch of them at my old place of employment. We likely have one around here on a shelf. The were and still are a company that sells the equipment all over the world. If you needed the piece of equipment repaired, it went back to Cushing, OK.
When I lived in Montgomery, Alabama almost any problem or equipment had to be shipped over to Atlanta or LA or NYC or some major city. If you are in NYC, Atlanta, Chicago or any major city and your ESECO product needs repair, off it goes to little ole Cushing, OK.They made a quality product and I am happy to hear they are still around. ESECO Speedmaster Photographic Medical and NDT products The only point of the story is that I always wanted to be there when some business based in a major city finds the equipment needs repair and they discover they have to ship it to Cushing, OK for the repair. Just strolling down memory lane. |
I can do the Cushing, OK memory lane stroll.
My Mon was born in Cushing, OK in 1919. My Grandad worked for an oil company and they lived on an oil lease. Somehow, I don't remember anything about it. Mom said that when she was young she took a trip to visit her grandparents in Nebraska in a covered wagon. She also said she went to a church camp called Falls Creek around the same time in a covered wagon. It was the first time she went anywhere without her parents. She helped cook to pay her way there. Falls Creek is a popular Baptist church camp in the Arbuckle mountains near Ardmore, OK. it's still there today. I just barely remember visiting Mom's aunt and uncle, Aunt Minnie and Uncle Chubb that ran a funeral home in Cushing. Uncle Chubb passed away when I was 2 and aunt Minnie moved to a Masonic old folks home in Guthrie, OK. We visited her in the home in Guthrie and she stayed with us often as I was growing up. She had a replacement hip and barely got around on crutches. Their son, Gene Bavinger played the clarinet and it got him a scholarship to OU. He became an artist and the senior art professor at OU. He also built a funky house East of Norman OK, called the Bavinger House that was designed by Ben Goff. Aunt Minnie didn't visit her son Gene very often because his funky house had too many steps in and around it that she couldn't manage with her crutches. |
Dang it. A quart of chain saw chain oil fell off the shelf and I ran over it. What a stinky mess!
|
Earthquake?
|
Got too close pulling the car in and bumped the chain saw case sticking out of the shelves. Didn't see or hear it knocking the qt of oil off. It landed close enough to the edge didn't see it on the floor and couple of days later the tire treads caught it just right knocking the cap off. Next day garage smells like gear oil! Think maybe it was the Cayenne S trying to get back at me for moving it over a spot in the garage and parking the Turbo in it's space.
|
I hate it when cars get jealous.
|
They didn't get the turbo finished before don't-labor day weekend. So going to take this opportunity to clean and re-organize the garage. Besides got to move the selves to clean the oil from under them anyway.
|
So the 928 ain't quite ready either. What a shock.
They will get the 928 done right before the first big snow and ice storm. |
Now that's just cold!
|
Figured when I took in the CTT the GTS was back burnered.
One more work day until the 3 day weekend. Then I will have a really short week. Tuesday that will be Monday because Monday will be Labor Day. Then have to take Thurday off because it's my birthday. They make us take our birthday off because there were too many parties all the time for people's birthdays. Then I am taking a vacation day Friday to recovering from all the partying and drugs I will do Thursday on my birthday making Wednessday my Friday. Then a 4 day weekend. |

Got up early to watch Fox and Friends.
Twisted Sister is playing live....at some point. I usually watch GMA each morning... Now I know why I don't watch Fox. The anchors are annoying as heck. |
