Raining cats and dogs.........going to be a busy day tomorrow.

RKDinOKC 07-18-2016 06:20 PM

That's not gotta be good for the stray cat and dog population.

Pete, did the grand kid arrive yet. Mrs Carrera keeps asking me. I don't remember you mentioning it.

Just a thought, a busy day tomorrow doesn't mean you have to clean up all the cats and dogs does it?

With luck in a year I can enjoy a frosty wheat pop made with those air filters. :D

possibly sooner as the hops grower ships nation wide.

Oh Haha 07-19-2016 07:43 AM

I like my beer with out my help in making it.

Oh Haha 07-19-2016 07:51 AM

Uh-oh. Wifey just came home. She hasn't been feeling well so she MUST be sick. Nothing serious, mostly her allergies and a sinus infection. It takes her out when it gets bad.

Neighbor asked me to mow her lawn today. I offered both kids the opportunity to help and make money but they both declined. I could make them but instead I'll just complain later how much my knee hurts and make them feel bad for not helping dear old dad. :D

me to. but in this case its a client who is doing the hops work and not me.

GH85Carrera 07-19-2016 08:02 AM

Yea, I made a few batches of home brew. Way too much work for mediocre beer. The near infinite micro brews and import available make home brew pure hobby. It can still be fun if you have the space to do it.

Interesting, Charbroil has a Hybrid 3 burner grill. You can use it as a gas grill, or insert a tray between the grate and burners that hold charcoal. The gas grill part is used to get the charcoal going then you turn the gas burners off and cook on the charcoal. Says it takes 15 to 20 minutes to get the coals going. Says no lighter fluid and not to use the starter charcoals.

They also have a 3 in 1 Smoker/Roaster/Grill. But some of the reviews says it does all three but not as well as a dedicated smoker or grill.

When I was younger we had a Charbroil gas grill that had hickory flavored ceramic/lava briquettes that went on a layer between the burner and the grate. It did had the flavor of charcoal without the hassle. We left it at our old house because it was built in and connected to our natural gas line. It was also over 20 years old.

The first grill I got after we moved here had enough space between the burners and the grate that I install a lower grill and put briquettes in it. It worked well, but after about 8 years it rusted out so bad it was non-repairable.

My current gas grill is just a standard 3 burner grill with the metal tents between the burners and grill. Had to replace the tents because they basically evaporated. It cooks okay, but has horrible hot spots and really doesn't impart that charcoal flavor.

And with my current living arrangements I really don't need a huge 3 burner grill.

I saw that hybrid but it doesn't look like there is a way to adjust the charcoal try up and down.

RKDinOKC 07-19-2016 10:56 AM

The only charcoal/gas with adjusters for the charcoal tray were combo grills. basically two grills stuck together. Those you still had to start your charcoal outside the grill and pour it in once hot enough.

flipper35 07-19-2016 11:00 AM

That isn't an issue for us, we have two chimney starters. No lighter fluid for us. We really don't need gas as we can do about the same in the broiler but for some foil wrapped onions or asparagus gas would be great.

RKDinOKC 07-19-2016 11:44 AM

There is a Chargrill that is a small round one burner grill. But the reviews aren't very good.

The two burner with infrared and a gauge on the tank looks pretty good. There is zero space to put any flavor briquets in it though. If so it would be KILLER!

We got banned to the backyard by wifey, at least for the next hour. She's on an unemployment hearing conference call.

You gonna let me come live with you? :D

One thing I DON'T do is mess around when she is on a business call. It's not often that she comes home sick so the last thing I want to do is pi$$ her off.
