Sure hope your wound didn't get a mrsa! Mine almost killed me and basically ruined my life as a knew it.

Like I said, they gave me some stuff to put on it called Amerigel, the active ingredient was Oak Bark, and also plain old Honey when my wound was slow healing.

RKDinOKC 09-10-2016 12:19 PM

Wow, fantastic hickory grilled burger!
And they say it gets better as it seasons in more.

Thank you guy that got me that Smoker Roaster Grill for my Burpday.

Ut oh. Pepper doesn't want to get in the new Cayenne Turbo. Think it's because it smells different.

Outback Porsche 09-10-2016 03:40 PM

Throw a handful of treats in the back, won't take long.

Morning all

Not so much stuff on the dressing this morning. Still stings a bit from the needle and all the pushing and prodding.

Dang it my 911 is suddenly haunted.
It will sit and idle fine then jump to 2,000 rpm all by itself and the drop back to normal. Everything tests out ok, but it just does strange things and I don't feel right driving around like that.
Off to the technical forum. It has to be something simple.

RKDinOKC 09-10-2016 08:42 PM

When my 914 did that I cleaned the Throttle Position Sensor, TPS to fix it. Was rather proud of myself for figuring it out. 2 dealerships and Dumont's gave up when they couldn't find it. On the 928 there is both the TPS and an Idle Stabilizer valve that can cause that kind of behavior. Would imaging there are temp sensors that can also cause that kind of thing.

What is most likely is that the last thing you worked on you bumped or pulled a wire to something else has now got an intermittent connection causing the rpm bump. Lets just hope it's and easy fix like that!

Guy in the 928 discussion group apologized. Was going thru all kinds of trouble shooting and getting help the car had died and wouldn't start. They were checking spark, timing, injectors, fuel pump etc. One of the guys that physically went to help him noticed the gauge was on E. They put some gas in it and it started up just fine. He was really embarrassed.

Good Morning.

Sunday Sunday Sunday.

Good thing I haven't gotten the 22inch wheels and tires swapped over to the Turbo yet. When pulling out into traffic still learning how much gas to give it to jump into that spot, but NOT spin the tires when the turbos kick in! 110 more horsepower is a significant increase from the S. Yesterday I went to leave my neighborhood making a left turn pulling out onto a busy 4 lane, floored it and spun all four tires, yeowza ALL FOUR. Four wheel drifting into the slot from a stop. Maybe that is why Pepper is reluctant to hop in?

Fixed the shifter not going into manual because in auto or D the Cayenne always starts out is 2nd gear. On the S if I need to pull out into traffic I bump it over into manual, then down to 1st and it really scoots out into traffic. With the turbo that is absolutely not necessary. In fact, it's a guaranteed tire spinner to drop it into first.

Such a 1st world problem eh?

It has been another gorgeous day here on the left coast. We took the 964 garage queen out for a spin...up to LA, where we drove the length of Mulholland Drive, over to Santa Monica. We stopped in at Marina del Rey, then, we headed down to Huntington Beach, where we took the Pacific Coast Highway to Newport Beach. We drove to the NB's harbor entrance and watched boats coming in and out for a little while, then got back onto PCH for the ride home. We're sitting on the patio now, enjoying the sea breeze. This doesn't suck.

Oh Haha 09-11-2016 02:43 PM

Sounds like a nice Sunday Jim.

We got the whole yard of my inlaws cut and trimmed. I made a mistake, though. Instead of using the pushmower to get down the side of the ditch I figured I could use the zero turn unit to get it done quicker and have less weed whacking to do. Uh, no.

The grass was still pretty wet and the tires spun enough to let it slip down towards the water filled portion. I was certain I was going over and into the drink. It has a roll bar but still....

I got it stabilized and shut it down. I had my wife use the truck with a tow rope to pull it out and all was well again. I used it as a teaching moment with my son and what NOT to do. :D

If we inherit that house the first thing I'm doing is filling that darn ditch in!

RKDinOKC 09-11-2016 02:51 PM

Almost got lost on PCH. Was just going from SF a ways down then cut over to where I was staying in San Jose. Missed the turn at Half Moon Bay and went all the way to Santa Cruiz then back up inland to San Jose. Might have been a lot more fun If I weren't in my friends Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Wayne, turn it into a swimming pool!

RKDinOKC 09-11-2016 02:58 PM

There was a big ditch going about half a block thru my brother's neighborhood down to a creek. It was basically street runoff. He had a culvert put in, filled it and planted trees. I guess the other neighbors didn't care. He had to plant trees twice the first ones died.

Oh yeah, one neighbor that was 3 houses away from the whole area complained about the concrete culvert where it feed the pond. He had some of the pool/pond people come in and cover the culvert with rocks so it would look more natural. I thought is was silly because directly across the pond from the complaining neighbor was a concrete culvert where another street drained into the pond. They never did anything about that one.

It's out by the road so I don't think that a viable option. It wouldn't be so bad but it hasn't been cut since the last time I did it. Probably a month or so of growth. My FIL couldn't do any strenuous work and now he will be out of commission for at least a couple of months.

RKDinOKC 09-11-2016 03:03 PM

Time to try a steak on the new grill!!

Oh Haha 09-11-2016 03:10 PM

that sounds good Richard. I'll take a thick Ribeye if'n you are askin'.

I'm making Banquet pot pies and canned biscuits. woohoo

Oh, and a leftover baked potato.

Wife and kids said they aren't hungry so I'm cooking for one tonight.

RKDinOKC 09-11-2016 05:10 PM

Oh man, put a single charcoal briquette in the smoker box and that steak tasted just like it was cooked on charcoal with none of the muss or fuss! Likin this thang as just a grill and it's supposed to be a smoker and roaster too! It was worth every penny of that $129 I found it on ebay for!

Just put a few chips (or a briquette) in the smoker box, lighter er up on high. Go in a get the meat ready to throw in the grill. Go out with the meat and it's smokin hot, turn the fire down to about half (supposed to be about 400°F) and grill like I normally would on my gas grill, and no flare ups.

GH85Carrera 09-11-2016 08:19 PM

I replaced the fuel filter on the 911. That seems to have fixed the strange running behavior.

I guess tomorrow will be a full test.

RKDinOKC 09-11-2016 09:11 PM

That makes the idle go up?

Outback Porsche 09-12-2016 04:18 AM

Morning all

No bike delivered today :(

They were down one mechanic, they got the rego done but couldn't complete the pre-delivery stuff they do.

Woohoo, so there's a bike registered to me that I'm yet to pay for.

They reckon it'll be ready by mid morning tomorrow.

I also took off the Idle Control valve and hoses it out with carb cleaner. I have no idea for sure why either of those would cause the no start and strange idle. The old fuel filter had been on there for 25,000 miles. I have filled up at gas stations from Bakersfield, CA to Bar Harbor, Maine.

I think I am going to order a new fuel pump to have on hand.

I did fine the ultimate cause of my cruise control failure. The cable snapped off just before the attachment to the throttle linkage. There is no connection right now. SO the CC brain box can get checked out and it has had an issue of the speed slowly going slower and slower for many years. It would take 30 minutes to drop 5 MPH. That issue will get fixed and for sure a new cable will help it work again.
