Up and in my sparrow blind, just waitin for that noisy son of a gun. Makes a peep with either end this morning and gettin it's head blown off.

The weather is jut perfect today. Low humidity with temps in the 70s.

Wifey had to go to the office for a few hours and then we are taking the kids to a local small town carnival. The proceeds go to help the fire dept. It's especially important this year as one of the firemen was killed by a drunk driver last weekend.

It's also our dog's b-day. 15 years old.

I got up early this morning and washed the El Camino before it got HOT. It was warm and HUMID out there. The Elky is clean again.

His hips are getting bad so we give him glucosamine daily and it helps.

The carnival was lame this year. Ok, they are all pretty lame for adults but it was smaller than last year with less rides and games. As usual, the freaks and weirdos were out in numbers. Guess I'm getting old. :(

I washed the Honder today. We haven't had heavy rain so neither vehicle has gotten dirty, just dusty. I also used some car metal polish on my cymbals. They are extra shimmery now.

Watching oz/us wimenz beach volleyball - gotta love it :D

Didn't get too hot until later today so Pepper got to go get groceries and lunch with me today.

Did some testing on the home A/C today. They claimed I could save electricity by turning the thermostat down before 2pm, then shut off the A/C and let it ride until 7pm. NOT IN MY HOUSE.

Was 73°F at 1pm so turned it down to 68°F. At 2pm it had dropped to 70°F. Turned off the A/C.

By 2:20 it was back up to 73°F and at 2:45 was sweaty and 75° so turned it back on. In 15 minute is was back to my comfortable 73°F.

Was kinda weird that to only dropped 3 degrees in an hour from 73, but dropped so much quicker from 75 to 73.
That might be the ducts leaking like the energy audit says, but the temp climbing so fast sounds like insulation to me!

Found a gizmo called Smappee. It has an induction coil you put on the line going into your breaker box. It not only tracks electrical usage but can learn the electrical signature of different devices, like appliances, stereo, etc. Will also talk to home automation stuff. They also have one that will monitor gas and water as well.

Friend gave and example of it sending a text message to tell him the washer is done so could put the load in the dryer, and another message when the dryer is done to unload it before stuff gets wrinkled. Says you can use just about anything as a trigger to have other things happen. Like I could turn on my hot water tank temp up in the morning, then after I have used the amount of water for a shower it turns the hot water heater back down to VAC mode.

Am really getting ate up with this stuff. The important part is I haven't bought anything yet!

Someone on facebook posted a recipe for Vegan Oatmeal Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies. Aren't all cookies vegain if you use vegetable shortening?

I figured to be Vegan it needed tofu or kale in there. ;)

We got the wife's car washed this morning. The wind machine is turned off I guess. There is not a hint of a breeze. It is stupid humid and hot. I was going to mow this morning after the wash job. Some dummy rand the sprinkler system last night and the yard is all wet. The same dummy will get to mow this afternoon when it is extra hot. Golly it will be fun.

You should give your lawn guy a stern talkin' to, Glen.

What does your wife drive anyway? I thought it was a newer Nissan or Honda.

Think it's one a them fancy smancy Luxury Nissans, Infiniti Q something or other. Suprised there ain't a button ta push an it warshes itself.

Hand wash the 928. Run the Cayenne thru a local $5.00 carwash with the big rotary brush things that would scratch the paint if it didn't have a fancy nano coating on it. Think it's the Quartz one.

Just before I stepped on the nail had the 928 buffed out at a local body shop to make sure the paint was 100% then put Zaino on it. Plan to have a local detail guy do the paint correction detail and nano coating thing on it when it's running again. Cars he's done have been winning a lot of car shows and concours. Been thinking about having all the stone chips on the front clip taken care of first.

I always hand washed the 911 or used a spray car wash. I've run our DDs through the touchless washes before if I didn't have time to do it myself. I don't think we even have of the brush style ones around here anymore. I have a power washer and use it sometimes. Our cars get that dirty so it is pretty rare to do so.

I use Purple Power or wheel cleaner on the wheel wells to keep them looking good. Spray on, hose off works well.

We've got a couple of touchless, but it costs more and you always have to wait in line.

There used to be a touchess a few miles away that would hand wash my Porsches because they were too low to go on the tire roller things. They quit doing that a couple years ago.

When I had my boxster S and had is serviced at the dealer they would always wash it. I had to start asking them not to because they were scratching the paint.

She has a Infinity G35x. The x is the 4 wheel drive version. It is a 2008 model she bought new. It only 34,000 miles on it.

I wash all of the cars in the driveway by hand. When I put in the sprinkler system I put in a faucet there at the edge of the driveway. I wash the cars with well water only because it is easier.

I will take the Elky through a commercial car was in the dead of winter to get the salt off. I have washed it by hand when it is below freezing outside. That is just no fun.

Reminds me, I need to wash the truck. It looks like hell. Oh yeah, it's just a truck. :)

I just try not to use the coin-op spray car washes. The have to recycle water and it isn't cleaned very well. Besides risking basically water sanding the car it always leaves with a film on the car.

My city water would leave a film just as bad, but not quite because my outdoor faucets go the my water softener.

Looked up my electricity usage yesterday. Turning the AC on to run for an hour to bring the temp down used $.05 for that hour. The hour I had the a/c off used $.10 less. When I turned it back on and hour later, despite running more to catch up it went back up $.10 to it's regular usage for that time of day. My usage seems to only go nuts if the outside temps get above 96°F.

I've been on the plan that charges $.05 for off peak and variable $.19 to $.42 peak from 2pm to 7pm since Tuesday. I was on the regular $.09 rate for 2 weeks. My average kWh cost has gone from $.09 to $.07.

The wash I use is really good. The owner keeps it clean and has the pressure turned up more than others. It's about 8 miles away so I wash, rinse and then dry it by driving home. I then use detail spray and dry it.

I have more time than you guys so my method might not be applicable to everyone.

Tried several coin-op brushless around town and they all left a film. Had to use detail spray and lots of towels or re-wash it at home to get rid of the film they left. Had to be careful or the detail spray would just make streaks of of the film.

Didn't help having a black car (the 944 Turbo) or the Dark Blue 928.
