Pete, 137K, but looks and drive like new, really. My Porsche mechanic was wanting to buy it for his kid, but his kid decided he wanted a Yukon. Kinda pissed him off. Daily drove it for two years and took two vacations in it. Work from home so it only amounted to 7K, had 130K when I got it. I am nuts and have gone completely thru it. Replaced water pump and intake gaskets. Everything else it tip top.
My eyes are having problems and loosing being able to see in dark nearly as well. Wanted to add white gauge faces and the cornering lights like on the bi-xenon headlights. Found nice factory style white gauge faces were about $1000. Then looked into the bi-xenon lights and everyone told me because of the cornering lights (which is what I now need to see turning corners in neighborhoods at night) it could not be added. So got a Turbo with the same miles and need to sell the S. It is loaded for an S because it has the Air Suspension and Trailer Towing Package. Also has NAV and anti dazzle rear view mirror. It is Carmon Red with Gray interior, and has 20in design sport wheels with 80% Michelins on it. Building a web page to sell it here. Will update and have more pictures when I get the 20in wheels on it. |

Possibly so but I bet just not right now.....
Been there done that, its no fun. |
Well, my wife is certainly having a good time with this. Lots of jokes and comments all day. Even the nurse that checked us in joined in on the fun.
Actually, my screen name comes from a Budweiser commercial with the 2 lizards from the 90's. When my best friend's daughter was a toddler I would make her laugh by saying "Oh, Haha" to her. I told her that if/when I got a 911 I would get that on my plate, which I did. |
So, no new drum video today?

That was just a few years ago. I wear a gray beard as a way to buy beer since I am only 12. Well mental age at least. |
Usually tell people I am 4. You can just hold up fingers and say "I'm this many." And by not using your thumb it looks like you know what you are talking about.

So.
I buy this Buick, it is clean as a whistle aside from the typical granny rash on a bumper corner...turns out the 'ole girl has a blown head gasket. Likely related to the "new water pump". Now I'm pissed, right!? Not really.... Determined the issue and that buying a used engine is dramatically less expensive than really spending any time on the existing. $425 for a 37k mile GM 3.8 Liter V6, 6 month warranty. If I want to get crazy, I can go with the 4k mile example for $800. I asked the guy at the salvage yard if this was a real number 3x, he finally told me he'd be happy to charge more if I wanted. I'll be replacing the engine in my Buick for what a secondary air-pump cost in my 540. HAHA |
The greatest thing about American iron is how cheap some parts are. When I replaced the engine in my El Camino I went with a brand NEW GM crate engine delivered to my door for $1,700. It was not a rebuilt, or remanafactured, it was new with a 24,000 mile warranty.
I needed new brake pads and I bought GM AC Delco pads for less than $20. Good Hump day morning everyone. |
Morning.
Those 3800 engines are great but have weak points. I had one in a Grand Prix that I bought after getting laid off the first time. It ran great but had seepage around the intake. My BIL and I were going to replace them but I sold the car before we got to it to get my Protégé 5. AFAIK, it is still running. We sold it to a former coworker of my wife. I think you are making the right decision with the Buick. Just be careful with your back when doing it. Hmmmmmm, they do make a supercharged version of it. Granny hot rod maybe? |
New winner of the dumbest customer award!
One of my buddies used to spay yards for a living. Mostly for weeds, but he also sprayed for insects like grubs that skunks and armadillos will hunt for and dig up your yard looking for a meal. One of his customers called after he had sprayed a yard in a expensive neighborhood. She was mad because she had toads. She said there were toads everywhere and that spray job did not get rid of them. He told her the spray was designed to NOT hurt toads. She said she wanted him to spray for the toads. He laughed and said NO. They will not spray for toads. Then he asked if he should spray to kill off those pesky Monarch Butterflies and maybe those mean honeybees and viscous hummingbirds and nasty songbirds. She was so mad she called the company and basically got the same reply. No business will spray to kill toads ya dumb broad. |
Morning all. Boy did I get lucky last night. Neighbor girl fell asleep at the wheel. She went left thru a flower bed and hit a huge rock taking out her oil pan. If she had gone right the three cars in the drive way would be in the shop today.
|
Wow, lucky for all involved. Pretty bad to fall asleep on your own street, though.
I have to take it easy another day. Watching "Parking Wars" right now. Wow, what a trainwreck some people are. |
yeah no kidding. she was about 100 yards from home. she was shook up and wanted to know why she couldn't just drive it home. well lets see the left tire is flat and the rim is bent and oh yeah the oil all ran out on the road.
|
Yea, you are lucky she did not destroy all the cars. I hope she gets a fat ticket and a lot of points on her driver's license. 100% inexcusable to drive when that sleepy. It is far worse than driving drunk.
One of my friends had a house that was run into several times. He kept planting a tree and it would get mowed down by another fool speeder. He finally just build a large dirt berm with railroad ties as a border. The grass was not even grown back when some idiot in a jacked up 4x4 totaled his truck on the berm. That truck would have been inside the living room without that berm. |
