We used to have a bowl of candy on the front counter at work at a previous job. The bosses wife bought a bag of knock off ultra cheap crappy hard candy in a red wrapper. 99.999% of the customers looked at it and figured it was cinnamon, cherry or maybe strawberry flavored. Nope, it was an horrible tasting licorice. When I saw someone get a piece I just grabbed a paper towel to hand to them so they could spit it out. Some people would spit it in their hand and they all had a grimace and most said that tastes terrible! Why do you have that horrible crap out for innocent victims to taste? I always told the truth, the owner's wife picked that crap out. It looks good in the bowl.

We had two customers that actually liked that crappy candy.

Got a 4 lb half turkey breast injected and brining to smoke tomorrow.
Will be my first smoked turkey attempt.
It's a trial run for Thanksgiving.

Used sea salt, lemon juice, butter, garlic juice, and hot sauce for the injection.
Brining in sea salt, white sugar, lemon juice, garlic juice, and black pepper.

Just heating up the brine to melt the salt it sure smelled good.

We hit 83 today. That ties a record from exactly 100 years ago.

We moved into this house on Halloween 1996. Hard to believed have been living here for 20 years.

Oh Haha 11-02-2016 05:06 AM

Happy Hump Day Gentlemen!

Nothing special going on here today.

Get to go the the lab that made, er uh, ordered my custom shoes. The new shoes are too freakin small. The last time I got shoes I had to stand with each foot in a box so it could digitally measure my foot. They didn't do that and evidently did use the info from the last time. Even though I warned them the width across the ball of my foot and toe box is too small. When you go someplace with a prescription you expect better than Payless.

Happy Hump Day everyone.

I guess the poltergeist that I exorcised from the 911 ignition has manifested itself into the turn signal system on the Elky. As I mentioned a few weeks ago I noticed it was blinking real fast but worked just fine. Then last weekend it stopped working at all. No lights, no blink, just dead.

I bought a replacement turn signal relay on Monday and put it in the center console tray on the transmission tunnel. My wife had plans for my time Monday night and I figured driving like a BMW owner for one more day was no a major deal. Yesterday the turn signals healed themselves. I guess that OEM relay realized it was going to the landfill if it did not start working. Just buying the new relay has scared to old one into working again.

Did you Oklahomies feel the earthquake overnight?

News reports claim it could be felt from Tulsa to Ok City.

Hey, Hammy is on GMA right now.

RKDinOKC 11-02-2016 05:52 AM

Felt nothing. Looked at the map, had quakes all around OKC, but nothing close enough to feel.

GH85Carrera 11-02-2016 06:06 AM

I saw the report on TV but I did not feel anything. They said is was just a 3.3 and that is not much.

Typical media report. Try to make news out of nothing. It is much like every single reporter ever that reports on a flood has to go stand IN the water. If a tornado hits something they have to stand in front of the one house or barn with damage and make it look like the entire city was blown away.

RKDinOKC 11-02-2016 06:29 AM

Hardly ever watch TV news. Guess I'm just out of the loop.

GH85Carrera 11-02-2016 06:46 AM

I record the news and fast forward through the many crime reports and car crashes. The story of the low life murderer the highway patrol took down out in western, OK was interesting. Those are some brave cops taking out the trash for us. I always skip any discussion of politics. I have voted already. Done and over, I can't change my vote even if they arrest Clinton or discover Trump is really a extraterrestrial alien. Both of those are equally likely.

Of course the endless car commercials and furniture commercials are skipped. Then I watch part of the local weather forecast. The national news is even quicker to watch. About half is about the election so that is skipped. Then maybe a story about ISIS battles and the earthquake in Italy. They often end with a feel good story as the last story. Some of those are pretty interesting.

I really love my DVR.

GH85Carrera 11-02-2016 10:38 AM

Porsche-poor 11-02-2016 10:59 AM

RKDinOKC 11-02-2016 11:11 AM

:D

Porsche-poor 11-02-2016 11:14 AM

you are both since you are married

I just hate having to look busy when they were supposed to be swamped with work.

GH85Carrera 11-02-2016 11:33 AM

I hope you get a decent food per diem while away from home.

I have worn the same watch for a LONG time, likely 15 years or so. So long I don't remember where I got it. It is a Casio tough solar pathfinder triple sensor watch 3070. I wear it all the time even working on cars, mowing the yard or whatever. It was physically beat up but worked fine until the button to make the back-light work quit working. My dad had the same watch as his casual cheapo watch, but his has the crappy plastic rubbery band. Since he died several years ago it has been just sitting in my office at home. Mine has the much nicer titanium band. I tried to swap the bands but I did not have the eyes or the tools.

I actually had to go to the mall. Since I am tough I managed to survive and park in a far corner and since I am smart I looked up where the watch shop was before I went. I walked right to it, no line and the guy struggled with it for a few minutes. I am real glad I did not try to do it after seeing a pro struggle with it. He charged me a whopping three dollars!

I managed to escape from the mall without having one single survey guy ask my opinion. I was not forced to buy a scented candle, no mall food, and no random wandering around. Phew. Hopefully I will not have to go back to the mall until next time I need underwear, long long AFTER Christmas.
