Oh man, just got out of a 2 hour shoulda been 30 minute meeting pre-ceeded by an actual 30 minute 30 minute meeting. And left the 2 hr meeting before they finished. Seems every person in HR, Training, and Safety had to each ask the same question over at least once. Every answer was different so basically nothing was decided about anything. They definately need someone in charge to just tell them what to do.

Tried very hard to not make any comments or say anything that would make them all feel stupid. I'm sure that is what would have happened If I would have told them what the obvious solution was.

Hahaha! Sorry Richard, but I'm so glad that I don't have do deal with that crap anymore. I deal with different crap, but it's of my own choosing. Mudding & sanding is done, with just a few last minute touch ups. I'm off shortly to the Home Despot for paint. Progress!

Jim, it looks like you are making good progress. Not bad for an afternoons work. ;)

flipper35 08-02-2017 12:09 PM

Jim, you are working too hard on that, you should go sailing!

Richard, I would imagine in that meeting just looking at them wrong would make them feel stupid at that point. I have those meetings a couple times per month. One will ask about ABC and a fer minutes later the person not paying attention will ask about ABC again and it goes round and round.

Can understand why my walls are textured. They didn't have to get them nearly as smooth!

GH85Carrera 08-02-2017 01:27 PM

The replacement inside door handles arrived today. I know I could have waited years to order them but they are too cheap not to get in stock. I can't forget this way. I just have to store them for 7 to 10 years. ;)

I need to order another replacement fan for the heat and AC for the Elky. I replaced it with the one I had in stock. I guess I will get one into my wish list on Amazon and order it next time I have something I really need.

flipper35 08-02-2017 02:20 PM

I think he is going to use that spray on chrome paint. Needs to be really smooth for that.

Afternoon all. In a reversal of Fortune it's only 74* and raining here in Texas. At home it's 87* and climbing.

flipper35 08-02-2017 02:47 PM

Of course it is raining for you!

Porsche-poor 08-02-2017 03:06 PM

They love me here and might not let me go home.

RKDinOKC 08-02-2017 03:41 PM

Chrome paint? Just put up mirrors like in those dance studios.

The company president spoke to the IT group this morning discussing what he was looking for in a new VP of IT since the last guy retired 30 days ago. Talked about how he wasn't necessarily looking for a person that knew anything about computers. That doesn't sound too very intelligent to me. He also talked about putting web cams all over the production and assembly areas AND using augmented reality glasses for people to be able to do their jobs. I don't think he knows anything about manufacturing or the industry we make our products for.

Jim Richards 08-02-2017 06:01 PM

I started painting the ceiling this afternoon. I really don't enjoy that but, after mudding & sanding drywall, it's a welcome change of pace. I'll probably be singing another tune by the time I finish painting. :)

David, don't let them capture you! Keep moving. Make them try guessing your next move(s). :D

Jim Richards 08-02-2017 06:01 PM

That sounds like a crazy workplace, Richard!

RKDinOKC 08-02-2017 07:13 PM

The founder of the company once told me. Standing on the solid ground of your base of knowledge is like standing on a river bank. It is okay to step out onto a rock in the river you are unsure about it's stability and look around. But is better to keep grounded to the bank and not step from that rock in the river to another rock farther out. It was a great place to work when he was alive. Now they are just wondering around all over the place and have no idea where they are standing even if they are all wet. But hey, they are doing everything in the name of God so it must be okay, right?

Wow. Nice little 4.4 earthquake. We had three little quakes last night and now a 4.4. No damage here I am sure.

RKDinOKC 08-02-2017 10:29 PM

Had one this afternoon as well that was 3.3. But the 4.4 rattled on for much longer than they have before. Maybe 7 seconds.

Pepper barked at both of them

Porsche-poor 08-03-2017 04:00 AM

Morning all. Didn't sleep well at all. Today should be a repeat of yesterday, just one long meeting.

RKDinOKC 08-03-2017 04:48 AM

Me neither. Nightwatch task had errors to fix. Has been much more frequent since our VP of IT retired. He mentioned a couple of months before he made the retirement announcement he was planning to give me some file maintenance tasks to take care of while doing the nightwatch thing. Said he was the only one doing them. He left before telling me or anyone else about those tasks. Makes me wonder about his retirement. Don't people usually give more than a 2 weeks notice before they retire? Especially with the crazy direction and type of person they are looking for to replace him we were told about in the IT staff meeting yesterday.

GH85Carrera 08-03-2017 06:20 AM

Morning all.

Well the Houston based mega company we did a little bitty job for 28 days ago set us up on their "fastpay" system. ;) 28 days after invoice submission I received the email that I can now start the process of getting the credit card payment. We loose 3.75% of the invoice to processing fees but we get paid. The slowpay system of waiting for a check takes an additional 30 days!

It must be nice to be a mega company and pay the bill 60 days after submission just because that is your policy.

Good over the hump day.
