Hope everyone is having and enjoyable Holiday weekend. I am on drugs. so pretty much except every six hours for 15 minutes or so be tween pills.
|
Morning all.
They issued a winter weather advisory but the sun is out and it is clear. So a sun advisory is closer to reality. It is a little below freezing but with no moisture to speak of. Merry Christmas all. |
Doing my pre-Christmas making of the Mango Chip Juice. Couldn't find any Serrano Peppers this year, but made do with Poblanos and it's still good.
If had not been on pain killers due to oral surgery since I got the 928 back probably would not have offered to sell it. Have hit my head on the windshield a couple of times now when I forgot and tried to heel and toe downshifting. It's not just embarrassing it's a sore reminder I can no longer heel and toe. Kinda takes away from the 5 speed experience. It does accelerate like stink even though I am short shifting at 4000rpm for break in and that makes me smile. And the GT cams don't wake up until 4000rpm. Previous owner will regret not taking advantage my drugged state. Going back to asking crazy money. Face is hurting, back to the pain killer therapy. |
Mornin' y'all! We're pretty much ready for Christmas. We baked all day yesterday and today we'll celebrate with our son and DIL. I hope y'all have a wonderful Christmas! SmileWavy

oh boy, next door neighbor brought over some candy to exchange for chip juice.
Glen, you want some chip juice this year? How about Richard? |
Yea, I will take some Chip juice. I can get it Tuesday at lunch. I may even share with Mrs Carrera. ;)
I hope Santa brings all of you good stuff and no lumps of coal. |
Merry Christmas everyone SmileWavy
I've had a geat day with the grandkids and stuffed myself silly with food :D |
That's doing it up right! Well done Jeff! Merry Christmas, guys and gals!
|
Jeff, you did it right. We are spending the day with family and getting some food to pig out with.
|
No more food, please!
Christmas was a lot of fun, but I'm ready for a break. Baked all yesterday morning & afternoon, dinner yesterday with our son & DIL, brekkie today with our neighbors and friends, afternoon helping our son & DIL with an electrical problem at their house, dinner today with our neighbors and friends. Leftovers galore. Yikes! Now, on to the New Year! |
Good Tuesday morning. Back to work for me, my mean jerk boss is making me work all week.
|
I just was online looking over the company credit card bill.:eek:
Lets just say that this month's bill would have bought my new 1974 914 2.0, a year of gas and a set of tires I bought to replace the crappy tires it came with. If we pay the minimum payment it will only take 27 years to pay it off. It is set up to automatically pay the statement amount so that will be paid in full on the statement due date. I don't do that interest BS. If we get a few of the projects coming up, and it looks like a done deal we will be leasing at a minimum one Cessna 172. Almost certain we will have two on lease and might need three is we can find a pilot willing to build a lot of time flying back and forth on a flight line, and do it right. |
Good Tuesday posing as Monday morning all. At least it is a short week.
Glen, I would volunteer but I can't fly for hire. Dave need a change of scenery for a short time? It has cooled off here. -7* when we went home last night. The dogs were not impressed when they needed out to do their business. They usually go out to play when I leave for work. Today they gave me the "Not on your life buddy" look when I left. Can't say I blame them. Richard, have you tried other heel/toe techniques? |
Other hell and toe techniques with a standard pedal setup?
Can barely rock my foot sideways. When I do a little, there is nothing there to press on the pedal. The ligiment from my 4th toe is connected to my 3rd toe and my little toe has been deknuckled. There is literally no part of the right side of my foot left to press on anything. The times I have tried I just end up pressing the brakes harder. |
To fly for us the pilot MUST be a commercial pilot with over 150 hours as a commercial pilot. That is on top of being type rated in a 172. And be willing to spend a week or two at a time away from home. It ain't for many pilots. Lots of flying in a line, turn and fly along right next to the last flight line. Like mowing the grass. And it is vital they stay on an imaginary line that the laptop display has.

My leather slippers I used to train myself to heal and toe with in my 944Turbo actaully had a hole worn in the sole where the bottom right corner of the brake pedal wore the shoes. The hole was in the ball of the foot, just to the left of center. So...I used the accelerator with the ball of my foot just a little to the left of the center of the accelerator pedal. When I hit the brakes I did not move the heel of my foot, instead would place the ball of my foot kind of centered on the right edge of the brake pedal. When I had to brake really hard, I would actually angle my foot a little to the left to keep from also pressing the accelerator. By having my heel planted and the ball of my foot on the brake pedal it was easy to tilt my foot to the left and blip the throttle while maintaining the same brake force. I thought that was pretty much how everyone did heel and toe with modern pedal arrangement.
Like I said. With the operation they did on my foot, there just isn't any tiltiing I can do with my foot, either left or right. Any attempt and I just end up hitting the brakes harder. One the streets I just end up braking harder and throwing my head towards hitting the windshield. One the track already braking at the limits I would just end up locking the brakes up and sliding out of the corner. In driving books I've read it talks about using the ball or toes of my foot to operate the brakes and heels to hit the accelerator and or doing the opposite, braking with the heel and using the toe to blip the accelerator, but says it is again very difficult to modulate the brakes without something touching the floor. The books say this is more difficult because you are using the big muscle in your upper leg to do the modulation instead of your calf muscles. I can't even imaging putting my foot in a position for one end to operate the brake and the other the accelerator. The books show an accelerator/brake pedal arrangement where one pedal is over the other instead of side by side in race cars. |
