Got my first email notifying me of domain autions. These are domains that have been registered but are now available. Some guy had tried to sell me the domain for Glen's old company, but wanted too much money.

Looked thru the list of domains for auction. Minimum bid is $300. Only thing that looks even close is drones.com, it is already at $17,000 with 9 bidders.

Looking thru the list, some are just CRAZY. broker.com is at $505,000. bride.com is at $275,000. chop.com $99,000. cpu.com $606,000. 5hit.com $53,250.

Most are under $1000 with some around $5000.

Yea, we would like to have to old domain only because it would be nice to pull us up in Google if someone is looking for the old company started in 1947 by name. We ain't paying a big premium for it. I don't think we will get much of anything from that web address. We offered to buy it and the phone number from the idiot son that runs the company. He was not interested in selling it, and he destroyed perfectly good office equipment we had offered to buy just so we would have to buy new. The good news for us, is I bought a new color laser printer-fax-scanner for less that we were going to offer for the old b&w unit.

Back in the stone ages before Google, I would find a web site by guessing a domain name. I was showing a customer how that works and she said how about a hard drive for my computer. So I typed in Harddrive.com. It was nothing to do with computers and was a much different hard driving right on the opening screen. It was great when the first search engines popped up.

Out of curiosity I just typed in Harddrive.com. It is slow to come up, but it really for computer hard drives now.

Yep, they slam EVERYONE, and it is a super funny movie. I have it on my phone. It was the first DVD movie I ever bought. I waited to buy a DVD player until Blazing Saddles was released.

I remember when I first saw it at the theater laughing my butt off, and thinking this will never be on TV. They have edited if to show on TV, but it is so full of changed words and silences, it is just unwatchable.

Porsche-poor 01-28-2019 07:47 AM

on big bleep!

GH85Carrera 01-28-2019 08:17 AM

Yea, the classic camp fire scene where everyone is eating beans, they cover up the farting sounds with the horses just whinnying. The guys are still doing the same movements, and the dialog is the same, but for some unknown reason the horses are noisy. It just ain't right. And Lili Von Shtupp is just Lilly von blank, which just kills the joke.

Yeah, toxic masculinity? What about toxic stupidity. When did we start electing the village idiots?

Remember when I was part of a monthly publication. The proof reading was done by a young woman in Chicago. One issue had a story about tribesmen in Africa's right of manhood where they had to face down and kill a lion. She tried to change the story to be a right of adulthood and everything was changed to he/she. And this was supposed to be a story from a real tribe? Luckily after a few toxically stupid edits like that she was fired. Seems like she is most likely in politics now.

That publication featured a historical figure each month as well. Out of 24 months they only had one white man, Andrew Carnegie. It was all black men and women because they didn't want to discriminate. And it was even worse. The artist that painted the hostorical figures was a black man. Even Andrew Carnegie somehow looked black. Had him re-paint the bust 3 different times to try to make Andrew look more caucasian. Claimed he just didn't know how to paint white people. Finally re-colorized the painting in photoshop.

Back in the mid 1990s. Now congress if rife with them.

Blame it all on the removal of corporal punishment from schools, then homes. Changed public schools from being schools to daycare.

That monthly publication I worked on was part of my brother, Tom's program to teach Character in businesses, government, and schools. He was shocked with I dug out and showed him a book I made in First Grade. It was titled "A Good Citizen is..." and had 12 character quailities. We wrote out the definition (learnining to print) and drew a picture of an animal illustrating each quality. His program was basically trying to teach what I learned in First Grade because he saw that as a big issue in the workplace and with politicians.

Most everyone love the movie ET. It is cute, but every single adult in movie is an idiot, or evil bad guy. The kids have to outsmart the stupid adults and save the day. It almost like Charlie Brown, where adults are just legs, and whahh whaaaa whaaa and no words.

Of course you and I are the worlds experts on kids. With a total of zero kids each, we know everything possible about how to raise kids! Like the old Saturday Night Live skit with a group of men discussing "women's issues" with authority and conviction.

RKDinOKC 01-28-2019 10:41 AM

All I personally know about raising children is from my experience being raised, and what I saw happen to others.

I saw Stevie wonder at NAMM again this weekend. He's there almost every year seems like.
And before you ask, no he didn't see me.

It's the new polite way of saying things will fall off if you stay out side to long.

sammyg2 01-28-2019 01:51 PM

Just think how much you'll appreciate it when it warms back up.

flipper35 01-28-2019 02:30 PM

Could be a want to go outside?

That would be a negative!
