Have not been skydiving, but have been hang gliding. Bought a full size GMC Jimmy to haul a hang glider, then discovered 1 in 20 hang glider pilots die hang gliding before getting a hang glider.

Put skydiving, base jumping, and piloting ultralights in the same "too risky" category, naked or not.

It is rather obvious you don’t worry much about freezes.

We are going to breakfast with the PCA club shortly.

-6 C is the lowest we’ve ever been, and it only stays low for a short time.

12mm copper can freeze and split sometimes. Don’t remember 25mm ever having that problem here.

When we lived in Hawaii the washer and dryer were on the lanai or back porch. Just open to the weather. Of course the house was single wall construction, and had zero insulation. It got down to 59F one time when we lived there. For anyone that has experienced winter 59 does not sound cold. But when there are no blankets, or jackets, or heaters in the house and everything is 59 it does feel cold. We would go for rides in the car with the heater running to warm up. The locals all dress up like Nanook of the North. We had left all of our coats and blankets in storage on the mainland.

I played out in the garage for several hours. The 911 is ready for the autocross tomorrow.

There are four 4 foot long florescent bulbs. on the part of the garage that is NOT the work bay. I replaced them with LED bulbs that are a drop in replacement, and will work with or without the ballast. The main work bay has 10, 8 foot bulbs.

We have 10 of those bulbs in the house, 6 in the master closet alone, two in the laundry room. I likely will go ahead and bypass the ballast.

I played out in the garage for several hours, too. The Z is still garage art.

To add to my fun I got the yard mowed and edged today. Last time I mowed I could see the rain approaching so I skipped most of the edging. This time I had lots of edging to do.

Our water main is exposed for about 2 ft above the ground before it enters the house which is standard for AZ. I never winterize my sprinklers and the lines are jut below the gravel. We rarely get below 32, and it’s never for more than a few hours.

Vacation over. Getting ready for the red eye home. Booooooo.

Jim Richards 06-08-2019 08:41 PM

I like insulate stuff like that, in case of some crazy, unexpected weather.

RKDinOKC 06-08-2019 11:17 PM

You just not a true Cali yet. Should be protecting the house from fire storms, earthquakes, and mud slides not freezing.

my waterline got broke, but a tree root did it not freezing weather.

No autocross for me today. :(

The thunderstorms came through. I just can’t see auto crossing is driving rain and hail. We canceled the event. We have had 1.5 inches of rain and so kinda wet. Oh well, yesterday would have been perfect, and tomorrow would be great, but we can’t change the dates.

Jim Richards 06-09-2019 09:06 AM

That sucks, Glen.

Sounds like here. Winter is for doing stuff outside.

It looks like you guys have had a great time. I liked Honolulu, must take the missus there one day.

GH85Carrera 06-09-2019 03:41 PM

The storm that messed up our autocross went down to Dallas and got mean and deadly. My autocross is pretty minor compared to the deaths and injuries and property damage.

Jim Richards 06-09-2019 04:03 PM

That was bad ju-ju. Imagine sitting in your lounge chair, sipping a cold one and watching golf on TV, and a freaking construction crane decides to pay you a visit.

That storm started in Kansas, got big in OKC, went to Dallas, Waco, Austin and down to San Antonio.

We had tons of fun. So much great food and fun stuff to do there. We had stuff on the list we didn’t get to, just ran out of time.
