Sid, we painted our front door to the house in my garage with the AC cranking. Having a large flat table at the proper height is convenient.
|
My A/C condensor fan died sometime Friday or so and took out the compressor. Didn't notice until it was too warm to sleep Friday nite. Temps weren't that high but the humadity sure is. At least now if the condensor fan no worky, the compressor won't keep trying to run and burn itselft up..
|
I ran for months with a compressor and no fan, but I cooled it with a water sprinkler. It was messy, but it got me to a point where I could replace the entire outside unit.
|
Would have been nice if there would have been warning between fan bearings, and compressors, Would have done similar with sprinkler to at least save paying weekend labor to my HVAC guy. Though he is pretty reasonalble.
|
Most compressors kick off the breaker when the head pressures get too high from no fan.
You got extra unlucky. |
Good Monday morning all.
The nice weather is back for a short while. 66 degrees is a nice cool morning. I am back to cussing at Photoshop. It happily opens a big file, and lets me edit it, but I just don't get to save it as a tif or JPG file. ARGH. I have two other programs that don't blink at really large tif files, and Photoshop is happy to open it and edit it, just no saving it, worthless POS software. Why should they care if I make a file that is a whopper? |
Hope ery one has great first full week of summer.

The crazy toads were at it again last night singing away. There is a little bitty toad, about the size of a June bug on the back porch that just fascinates the dogs. Even at that size they must have enough of the poison in their skin to put off the dogs. They will poke it with their nose, but the know not to bite at it.

Got the seats out and they are not worth salvaging. I guess they are almost 30 years old and survived the elements that long but the adjusters don't work, the electrics don't work and can't put a slot for the anti-sub belt.
Weather was good all weekend. |
Wow, I feel like I am back in the Win 95 days of Photoshop. The file is just part of the image, and it is 46910 x 145740 and just 19.1 Gig. The computer is almost choking at times. It just has to stop and write files to scratch disks. It is all a Photoshop PSB file so it will be a pain to get the file piece at a time into a tif file. I would have to write a novel to explain why I am having to do this, but the bottom line is we are trying to save some data that three other companies failed to get.

Buongiorno, y'all. I repainted the oil pan and am fabricating new parking brake cable hangers (old ones kind of disintegrated). Mid-to-upper 60s is great working in the garage weather. :)

Gee Jim, painting the oil pan is silly, the oil sitting inside will cover up the paint in there, and the bottom of the engine is hard to see unless you run someone over! Green text for the above. ;) |
I’m a silly guy. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/spankA.gif

Damn. Drove the 944 to work today and noticed it’s low on Freon. No problem, I had one last can of r12 horded. Went to add it and discovered that my can tap didn’t have a good seal and leaked $25 worh of Freon out. Damn it!!!! Gotta hunt down another NOS can now!

Sid, I am surprised your dad doesn't have a stash at his place.
We are supposed to have some 90 degree days coming up. I want to test drive the 911, and test the AC is real hot weather. I am really hoping for 100 degree weather to give it a full test. If I get ice cold air in 100 degree heat, I am golden. If not I will hook up the gauges, and check the pressures. A month from now I will be in the Key West area. Maybe at Big Pine Key after a return from Key West. |
Hey Joe, whats a good but inexpensive EDC folding knife in the 3-4 inch range?

I had to break out some new shoes. I wear the same Reebok, Men's Classic almost all the time. Size 10 EEEE. They disappeared for a couple of years, and the substitutes were for sure inferior. With super wide feet, few shoes will even fit. These are at the just a little tight as it is, and I need to get em broken in some before my Florida trip. The laces are just barely long enough to tie a bow with the shoe at max width. I guess I really need a 10 EEEEE.
