I presume the 944 tracks are like the 911 tracks. On my car the driver’s seat is not horrible, because it is electric and can be raised to get some access. The passenger side it dang near impossible.

Have fun Sid.

porsche4life 03-23-2019 03:22 PM

Yes they are the same, but this ain’t a 944 and it’s wayyyy too old to have power seats. They aren’t bad to get to, just have to baby them to keep from ruining the head of the bolt.

GH85Carrera 03-23-2019 04:24 PM

Yea, when I removed mine, I replaced all of them with a new bolts that were higher grade, and had harder heads. And I used a bit of anti-size on the bolts. It is common for them to strip the head.

We had some quarter size hail this afternoon. Only a little rain, but lumpy. It stripped a lot of the pear tree blooms out of the trees. They reported a funnel spotted just there blocks away, but it never came down. We never even had a power flicker or any damage that I could see. I will get the roof inspected, but I can’t imagine it really has damage. We have a class 4 hail resistant roof. The hail was quarter size at most.

Can’t say I miss those storms.... I’ve left the 944 outside several nights lately with no worries. 🤣🤣🤣

evening all.

Whats happening in the land of Stijn?

I have almost had enough of working for a living, need to retire, have done it before though, but this time I think at 62 I have finally had enough.

Just have to work on the finances to be able to afford it!!!!

RKDinOKC 03-24-2019 04:45 AM

Have not been able to stay awake this weekend or the last several days for that matter. Sitting at computer just wake up and have been slumped over an hour or two. Going to Doc this week to see what is up. Both my blood sugar and blood pressure have been good. If I lay down it is difficult to get up without falling back to sleep.

Friend called to see if it was hailing here today. Woke me up in the middle of the short hail storm. The noise from the hail was a bit disorientating at first. Don't remember the weird dream I woke up having, but the noise from the hail had worked it's way into it. Along with the phone ringing as well. There was an old girlfriend griping about something, can't remember who or what, but there was no trebuchet. Had fallen asleep halfway thru eating lunch.

Hi Azzy! We’re moving slowly here. I picked up my wife from the airport late last night. She’s just back from visiting her sister and and old girlfriend. If I can talk her into sailing this afternoon, we’ll be doing that, otherwise, I will have a day in the garage to tinker on my 280Z project.

I strongly recommend retirement. I can really get used to this.

GH85Carrera 03-24-2019 10:54 AM

I went outside and looked around a bit. There are hundreds of little bitty sticks knocked out of the Elm tree on the west side of the property. All the local pear trees have a bunch blooms knocked out, and the hail contractors are out in force. I have already pulled up one illegally placed sign soliciting for roofing contracting that was stuck in the neighborhood common area. I got a call from a scammer with a caller ID of the town of Perking, OK and he said a crew would be in my neighborhood doing free damage estimates. I told him I don't ever do business with companies that cold call me, and I hung up. Then the doorbell rang, and I saw a pickup with a crew of folks going door to door. I told him the same thing. I never ever do business with someone that rings my doorbell, and I shut the door in his face.

As far as I can see, the hail was way too small to do much damage if any. I will call my roofer and have him come look just to be 100% sure. I am not getting on the roof myself. Our roof is new, and a class 4 hail resistant roof, so it is supposed to survive golf ball size hail with no damage. I did not see any roofing gravel in the downspouts, so I bet I am fine.

Got the second seat out and back in last night. The stops to keep you from sliding too far has gotten broken off and we’re binding the tracks up. Cleaned and reassembled and greased everything and they slide nicely now!

Glen, out of curiosity, could you guys take a couple of pics on a fly over and tell which houses in an area actually needed re-roofed or not?

Saw a roofing ad on facebook with a drone. Thought maybe if you all did an aerial shot of the whole neighbor hood, they could only target the houses that show they need repair, and could provide an estimate from it as well.

Or maybe you could sell the surveys to insurance companies so when the roofer's talk someone into roofing that doesn't need it the insurance companies can turn them down before the roofer's even get started.

GH85Carrera 03-24-2019 07:58 PM

Yes and no. Yes we could fly the area, but to get high enough resolution to see damage would require a very low and expensive flight. To show a square mile would be really expensive, and the possible sales would be minimal. Roofers are cheap. It is way easier to put a ladder up and go up to the roof.

The Macan got a bath on Friday evening. I am just a wild and crazy party guy, and really know how to go nuts on Friday nights.

I washed the El Camino yesterday afternoon. It was solid overcast and mid 60s, so great weather for it. I had my headphone on and was rinsing it down and yet another roofing contractor walked up and wanted to give me his card. I told him my standard reply, I never do business with people approaching me with a "good deal" and told him to keep his card.

Welp, back to Monday.

Jim Richards 03-25-2019 06:39 AM

Buenos Dias, y’all. I ended up working in the garage yesterday, mostly cleaning and organizing. I still have a bit more of that to do before I leap back into working on the Z. As it stands right now, I have significantly more room to work on the car. Of course, it’d be great if suddenly my 2-car garage grew up to be a 3-car. :)

Morning all. After today I'm out at a job site and may not have internet to play with. I'll let you know.

Not even in the hotel at night? How remote is this jobsite?

Porsche-poor 03-25-2019 08:03 AM

Portland. I'm sure the hotel has wifi but by the time I get to it at night everyone else will be in bed.

RKDinOKC 03-25-2019 09:15 AM

Last time I went to the 928 GTG at a Hilton in TX they had great wifi except for one thing. Their wifi blocked my VPN. Had to tether to my phone to access the servers at work.

Porsche-poor 03-25-2019 09:30 AM

Yeah we always have issues with WIFI and network connections with these laptops and all the security they have on them.

GH85Carrera 03-25-2019 09:30 AM

David, just use TapaTalk. It is a great app for the forums. It works great unless you are on a super limited data plan. My data plan is shared between my wife and MIL. We always have roll over data time left.

Porsche-poor 03-25-2019 09:57 AM

Thanks Glen I'll look into it. I figure I'll be busy at the site anyway.
